Decided to bring discussion I brought in gameday thread here so that thread can focus on the game.

For who haven't seen on here I found out on Thursday the restaurant I've worked at for the entire 19 year run is closing end of the month and I'll be out of a job. Oh and my birthday is the 27th to boot.

I so appreciate all the kinds words on here. This is a great community but in times like this it's truly special.

From coming home to a break in at my house to this news 2024 from a personal aspect has been one to forget.

Combine this with my history of depression and it's a recipe for disaster.

If it wasn't for this community I'm not sure where I'd be.

Hey. I get it. The mind can be your enemy.

Just yesterday we went to a school event where my wife and I felt completely out of place. But the worst of it was seeing my kid struggling to find his way also.

Makes me question every ******* thing I've done in the past 7 years. From living in a place that's not good for my wife and I, but seemingly good for kids to everything in-between

I had a rough night mentally. Not much better today, but the sun did come out. I do have an opportunity to keep swinging.

Keep swinging, brotherman

Worry is an exhausting endeavor. I come from a long line of worriers, but its grip has lessened over the years when I remember not one outcome in my life was ever changed due to my worrying..... I found thinking about solutions is much more satisfying

And if we want to put a faith spin on it

When I was dating the current Mrs KnappShack she would take me to church. One day the preacher said worry is rejecting the Word of God.

If God is in control then worry shows you don't have faith that He is in control.

So let Jesus take the wheel (if you're so inclined)

Ditto to letting God take control. My life simplified when I did that. Less stress. Felt more compassion and less resentment towards others too.

I think this hits on a theme that transcends religion. Wife and I are not religious people but are firm believers in the idea that what's meant to happen will happen. I don't know that I necessarily believe in the human constructs of religion, but I do believe that there's something going on that's bigger and more complex than anything we can know, and whatever that happens to be is in control.

Either that or I'm the only actual human being on Earth and you're all just NPCs.

Almost 10 years ago now I lost my job at a tech company. My health was failing, I was depressed and miserable. My father sent me this video for perspective.

Ultimately, those moments of stress are opportunities for growth.

All my best to anyone going through a rough patch. Please remember that this too shall pass.

So very sorry to hear this, nobody deserves to go through that. Know that you have a big family here that really cares for you. I think I speak for many when I say you can contact us any time if you need us.

On the bright side, the economy is in a state that hopefully you can bounce back really quickly on that front. While I understand the loyalty and love you can have for a job, but look at this as a new game thread with new opportunities.

Hang in there and please don't wait too long to reach out if you need anything.

Keep your head up man. I’m sure that type of longevity is highly sought after in the restaurant biz. You’ll land on your feet, I’m sure of it. You may even end up in a better spot.

I remember you posting about working X numbers of days in a row and thought to myself holy ****. Apply for jobs, pick up a hobby and enjoy the little things. I remember meeting you at a CF pickup bball game a few years back and you seemed like a good dude.

Life sucks sometimes. It’s a lot of ups and downs. Coming out the other side is one of the most satisfying feelings out there. The world is better with you in it.

I would think a restaurant employee with that many years of experience would be in very very high demand. I know it is change, but don't doubt the change can be one of the best things to ever happen to you personally.

That sounds like a kick in the teeth. I recently switched jobs and left a place i had been for 12 years. While there has been lots of things to learn at the new company because everything is different, i am having so much fun with the new people i get to work with. This change could be awesome for you in the long run.

What I've found to be incredibly uplifting is listening to persons who've survived near death experiences.

When many thousands (millions throughout human history) of persons across the world who've crossed the threshold of death and then returned all share a remarkably consistent uplifting and life changing experience, even modern science has now conceded that your conscience continues beyond death.

These near death experience survivors essentially all say the only thing that really matters during our short time on earth is spreading love to those around you. And they also say that no matter how difficult your circumstances are during your lifetime, it will all be okay in the end. They immediately lose their fear of death.

Hearing these thousands of persons sharing their experiences is incredibly uplifting for me.

You should listen to Jeremy Renner's episode on the Smartless Podcast. His experience was crazy and the way he described it had a skeptic like me believing.

Whenever I'm feeling blue I like to remind myself that Tamin Lipsey went from shooting 20.0% on 0.8 three-point attempts per game to 39.1% on 3.2 three-point attempts per game.

Trying my best. Last 2 days have been first since the news where I made it through the day without an emotional breakdown.

A few CF people had me at their homes for an in person chat and several have reached out through pm.

Not sure what I've done to deserve such amazing people.

Looking forward to him shooting 58.2% on 5.6 attempts per game this year

Just had an emotional breakdown. The past few months has been rough and last couple weeks especially.

A week or so I had a good dream. In the dream my time here had come to an end. Sadly I woke up.

The constant mental stuff I deal with combined with the physical: both hands are in pain and need surgery, my knees are shot and back is so bad I can only stand for minutes at a times severely limiting what jobs I could even perform. And I'm only 44.

I'm tired of being a burden to all those who care about me. I just want the pain to end.

Who have you talked to other than us here? I’ve met you and you are stronger than you realize. Perhaps the dream was you telling yourself there is a way through this pain, and when you start to take those steps you’ll be on your way. We’re Cyclones. Giving up is not in our playbook.

@CycloneRulzzz there are any number people on this site that could, and would, use any number of words to describe you. I am confident NO ONE would describe you as a burden.

I don’t know you, but I from what I read from you, the world is a better place with you in it. You can weather this storm. We are all here for you
