IF's.

If Milan gets hot...
If Lipsey is 80% or better...
If Heise plays lights out...
If the Presidents instill fear...

Maybe, just maybe, we hang a pretty good banner...

I'm on board!

The way CW and Hassel were talking this morning, the season is already over and it's the most disappointing ISU season in history.

Just an absurd segment to be having the day after the bracket is released. I get that Hassel just always takes the position of sad sack worst case scenario, but why was CW defending it when the season isn't even over?

You teens are spoiled and think this happens every year. The fact is us older guys have been waiting for this team for 25 years now and we got the draw we wanted also. Fred's teams never played enough defense to go that far and last year we got shafted being put in Uconns region.

If history is any indication it could be another quarter century before we see a team this good again and reality is alot of people won't be around by then.
TJ's already accomplished more than any coach in ISU history. Don't you think it's more likely that we're able to field a team on par with this one than it was for any coach previously?

FWIW I’ve been watching a bunch of bracket projections on YouTube all day. Most people still seem the thing ISU makes it to the Sweet-16 without Gilbert. Some of that is the product of having a great draw, but let’s just clear the first weekend and see where things sit.

I was looking for just about any Cyclone tournament content to consume today, but I just don't like the version of CW you get on 2GNC. I appreciate what he's trying to make happen with Iowa Everywhere, don't get me wrong, I have no problem with that. And it's easy to understand Hassel--the guy is a tavernhok cartoon--I just don't get Chris playing good cop to Hassell's eye rollingly obvious concern trolling. It'll be a bit I'm sure before I go back to that one.

I put round of 32 as I fear what % Tamin can give..

No offense, but relying on Kelderman in March Madness is not a recipe for success against P5 teams
How well Kelderman holds up when in the game is the key, primarily whether he can minimize turnovers. Hopefully, Tamin will only need 2-3 minutes of rest each half. Jefferson speaks highly of Kelderman so maybe he will surprise us, ala, Holloway.

Clearing the first weekend is making it to the Sweet 16.

After watching the CW and Blum podcast yesterday it’s very obvious CW is very depressed about the Gilbert news. I get it. It’s hard to not get down about that kind of news when this team was honestly expected to make a final 4 run and now that is seeming very unlikely.

It’s not just Gilbert. Don’t forget the point that was made about Lipsey.

Lipsey was at 60% last week? As Blum mentioned, if Lipsey is slowed, it’s a tough road

I believe it was said “weird things can happen”. That’s true, but if that’s where we’re at, one can’t fault CW to be down

Maybe CW has inside info from TJ

I don't know that you need any inside information. I guess our fanbase tends toward optimism.

But realistically, if you were looking at another team in our place (who has struggled with starters out) now having one out for sure, and another questionable, and playing a walk on significant minutes in the tournament, you'd probably think that team is going to struggle.

'Ol Miss is a good team. No bad losses and wins over BYU, @ Louisville, @ Bama, UK, and Tennessee. Slightly worse record than ISU playing a harder schedule.

That game is far from a gimme and things will need to go right for us to get into the second weekend. Beyond that, it isn't going to get easier. That's why WIlliams and others are down.

Full strength ISU was a Final 4 team and a 1 seed. A team limping in, and needing Cade Kelderman to take giant steps forward to go beyond the second weekend is not that team. It just isn't.
