Local companies owned by rich "boosters" will overpay. The Jerry Jones wannabes will always write a check to be important and have access.

But we have also been through a strong economy. Throw a recession in and smaller or local companies (aka Wilson Toyota) might find it tougher to throw $50k at an athlete when $10k will work.

What about large corporations? Right now we are in the wild west of NIL, but things will settle down. And marketing folks who write the checks will realize they are wasting money on most Athlete Spokespeople. 80% of the commercials with NIL athletes (even Pro) I have no idea who the athlete is! They'd make a better investment hiring another Terry Crews. Or they need to be like Experian and tell me who Flau'jae Johnson is:)

The market inflation is due to the first group.

I don’t think there is any material ROI revelation coming, as most of the NIl isn’t looking for ROI

Only the poor P4s

The P2 want new money like Tech and Creighton put back in the box, in a setup like FMV which favors the traditional, old money, big brands
And if not this, there will be other ulterior motives that favor the P2.

Agreed. But that first group will have less a leg to stand on if Deloitte has any teeth.

People keep throwing the argument out that NIL value is in the eye of the beholder. But not really. Wouldn't be hard for Deloitte to put together a database on athlete/celebrity spokesperson deals from Lebron James to Alan Lazard based on what personal services their contracts require them to do, product sales and money the athletes earn. I'm sure Deloitte has some smart people working who could develop some guardrails that would apply to 80% of NIL deals.

The other side of the House Agreement could be transparency. If NIL deals become public information, does that bring some sanity to the amounts paid to athletes. It might act to end the insanity, even if the amount of specific NIL deals isn't made public.

Sure I might be optimistic, but this isn't Rocket Science either for some solid number crunchers.

I guess I'm not shocked anymore but Darrion Williams just entered the portal. Probably wants Toppin money but I cant believe TTU cant pay to keep him, they probably would prefer to keep Anderson.
Ahhh…one trickle down of giving someone $4 million. I can only imagine we’ll see more of this - players wanting to renegotiate “their number” based on what a teammate got.

Chris Williams said it’s not true. Am I still right on that. Either way I’m confused . Hope it’s true. Seems like a good player
Chris said on the Williams and Blum Sunday Pod that reports of “a player” being on campus visiting last weekend was not true. He didn’t say anything about this visit on the 11th that I’m aware of

As Dominick Nelson visits today I became interested to see his history. WAC player on the year this past and only season in D1. Prior to that was in JUCO meaning we may get those years back.
The main thing I was looking for was 3pt% as it wasn't good this past season (25%). In his last year at JUCO he shot 32% definitely better. But the most incredible thing I saw is he avg 20pts per game in only 18min per game. Wtf. That 45pt/40min of game time.

Nelson is not visiting today. CW stated that was inaccurate

The thing is, you can't pay a high school left tackle over 600 dollars if he isn't even starting and is not used in any marketing. What if Auburn just continues paying players as they've always done? What is the punishment? who has the teeth?

And there is no way the SEC is going to let the Big East dominate college basketball because they allot more of their money to hoops. This is going to crash and burn.

Texas Tech just paid a player 4 million. If he is used in car commercials or something, good luck proving a star in hoops doesn't have that NIL value.
