I'm psyched we got a proven QB (funny those who lost out seem to leave out he is a returning Pro-Bowler) that's only 25 years old.

Please, the Pro Bowl is a sad excuse for an All-Star game; the Miss America pageant has less subjectivity that being named to a Pro Bowl squad....

For those who believe the Bears have just acquired the best QB in the NFC Norris, take pause to compare his stats to those of Aaron Rodgers. I'm not making the case that Rodgers is better, simply that Cutler's reputation might exceed his performance...

Cutler (8-8) - age 25 - 2nd full-year starting - 25 TD / 18 INT / 62.3% Completions / 4526 Yards / 7.3 Yards per Attempt / 200 Rushing Yards

Rodgers (6-10) - age 25 - 1st Year Starter - 28 TD / 13 INT / 63.6% Completions / 4034 Yards / 7.5 Yards per Attempt / 207 Rushing Yards

Appears fairly similar. Notice I never said that Rodgers was a bad QB up in Green Bay - in fact, most knowledgeable football fans will tell you that the offense was far from the problem up in Green Bay.

Packers suck!! Go VIKES!!

Way to add intelligence to the conversation there :jimlad:

Just to note, in case you're incapable of reading profiles underneath user names, I'm not a fan of the Packers either - but their offense wasn't the reason why they were 6-10 last year.

Couldn't care less - we did fairly well last season while he was rotting in a jail cell, and found our QB for the foreseeable future in the process. Since it's going to be near-impossible to trade him, and virtually no one in Atlanta wants to deal with him, I'd say let him walk for all I care.

Cutler may have gotten his wish, but with no Brandon Marshall to throw to in Chicago, he may think differently later. i think it's a good deal for both teams. Denver can build for the future. Chicago basically only gave up 1 1st rd pick, because Cutler and this year's pick are a wash in my opinion.

I look at like they traded Orton even up for him - the Bears haven't exactly had the best first round draft picks over the last decade...

What I really liked about yesterday was the signing of Pace to help with the o-line. He might not be what he used to be but he'll help out and probably be a starter for the next year or two.

Really, all we need is another receiver and the Bears will, probably, have a decent O for the first time since the 80's.

According to the following article, McDaniels is going to have a press conference @ 11am (MDT).

DenverBroncos.com – Official Website Of The Denver Broncos

This article also included some interesting draft info...

If the reports are correct, the Broncos will have the following picks in the upcoming NFL Draft:

1-12-12 Denver
1-18-18 Denver (from Chicago)
2-16-48 Denver
3-15-79 Denver
3-20-84 Denver (from Chicago)
4-14-114 Denver
5-13-149 Denver
6-12-185 Denver
7-16-225 Denver
7-26-235 Denver (from Atlanta)

It would also mean that over the next two NFL Drafts, the Broncos will have nine picks in the first three rounds.

If McDaniels and the new GM play their cards right, they could pick up some quality players the next couple years. Only time will tell.

What is Denver's salary cap situation, looking like? That could be a factor as well.

I think they're sitting pretty good in terms of salary cap.

I have no idea how accurate/reliable this site is, but it came up when I googled for NFL salary cap info....

Ask The Commish.com - Projected 2009 Salary Cap Figures

These are estimates as of 1/23/2009 and Denver is listed as having 3rd most $$ under the cap in the NFL ($38mil). I would think this would increase slightly after the trade for Orton, but Cutler didn't necessarily have a monster contract.

Edit: The Dawkins, Gaffney & Buckhalter trades will probaby affect these #'s as well....

He may or may not work out for the Bears, but I agree on the Pro Bowl thing. It could easily be termed the consolation prize. The only QB to throw more INT's than Cutler also was named to the Pro Bowl last year. The guy who won the Super Bowl wasn't.

Those numbers sound about right. That is about what I heard on the broncos forum a couple of weeks ago.

These players seriously need to quit being such babies. It's really pathetic.

So if your boss was openly interviewing other people for your position, you would not be the least bit miffed?

In other Bronco news, TE Scheffler reportedly wants out of Denver as well.

If my boss turned around and claimed that it didn't happen, yeah I would be. That's how it went down in Denver.
