Take a look at Westvleteren 12. I highly doubt it's THAT good of a beer. I mean, I'm sure it's amazingly good - probably in the top 25-50 beers in the world - but I suspect a large part of it's extremely high ratings has something to do with the scarcity of it. It's legendary in the US in large part due to the fact that it's not available here.

It is pretty good beer and I've had it in Des Moines.

Ultrapremium rye's and bourbon's are the next big thing after the ultrapremium Vodka craze... Anybody tried "Ri" from Jim Beam? I haven't been able to find it anywhere...

Bud Light and Rolling Rock- both crap, shouldn't drink these unless you're a teenager/ college kid who doesn't like the taste of beer but wants to get drunk. If that's the case just buy 40oz of Mickeys or OE save some money and get drunk faster, or just buy PBR, Old Style or Coors for better flavor and similar price.

Sorry, you just lost all credibility as a beer snob.

I think the stuff is great and worth the buck or two. I know that a few places have ran out of TR from time to time. Sounds like they are expanding quickly. They have a nice website too. Finally, they are HUGE hawk homers...oh well, finally something good from the dark side.

Yummmmyyyyy!

I just spoke with my local grocer and he said that I need to buy all the eggs I can get my hands on. Yes, I speak with the store manager of Hy-Vee everytime I go to the store. I was so concerned I went to Dahls and just happen to bump into to the store manager who happened to mention I need to buy all the eggs I can get my hands on.

Everyone needs to go buy eggs and lots of them!!!! I honestly have not other agenda other than letting people know that if you don't get eggs now...you may never see them again.

kinda strange reply:wink:
but will go with it. I love a good red wine (the drier the better)

I followed a link to a bodybuilding forum one day, don't ask me why. All the guys would put a (no homo) after their posts if they were complimenting another man on his body (i.e. Nice bod (no homo)). I picked up the habit because it's rofl.

Also I'm a huge wine drinker. Probably drink as much wine (zinfandel is my favorite) as beer these days. Gotta love templeton rye though.

Have never tried the stuff, but am tempted with all the good comments.

$32 for a good bottle of Whisky isn't that bad a price. I really like Knob Creek and Makers Mark which is also in that price range. I've got a bottle of Canadian Club 12 whisky which I really like. Can drink it on the rocks and is every bit as smooth as Crown Royal.

I like buying booze on sale however, and just bought a good bottle of Michael Collins Irish Whisky for $16 which was like half price. The store manager told me it was the best value in the entire store.

Oh well; if there's a shortage, won't bother me much. There are plenty of other good options.

Goodness, you need to branch out. There are so many wines that are superior. That stuff tastes mostly like grape juice with sugar added...

You'll probably need something stronger than Templeton to get up the courage to tackle all those eggs after you age them for 3 years.

I have tried more wines than I can remember. Zin stays my favorite, it's fantastic. You're not thinking of white zin are you?

Yes I am. One of the first wines I ever drank. I tend to like drier wines epecially with food. Merlots, Cabernets, Shiraz and any combination of those tend to be my favorites. Rieslings are nice too, but tend to be a bit sweet for me.

If you like merlot, cab, shiraz, you should really try a red zinfandel. Grab a Blackstone Zin - runs about $8 or so. Great value (imo). Red zin is very dry.

If you're looking for a close competitor to TR, try Woodford Reserve. For those of us out of state who can't get TR Woodford is very competitive on taste/quality. I always try to get a bottle of TR when I'm back in Iowa, but it never lasts very long. I get by on WR between trips.

Yeah that's decent whisky. I still prefer Knob Creek over it.

I think I remember hearing that Red Monk had it when they first opened.

Other than that, I'd love to know where you had it because it's insanely hard to get your hands on, even if you live in Belgium it's not exactly easy.

It was red monk. I don't remember if they had it last time because I drank the #8.

I SINCERELY doubt that you were drinking Westvleteren. Maybe one of the other trappist/abbey beers that sound like Westvleteren.

If Red Monk is selling Westvleteren, they aren't doing it legally.
