I have no idea how average or bad our line is after that game. What i do know is the offensive gameplan, creativity and adjustments for that particular game yesterday were absolutely horrible. No misdirection, no rb screens, no bubble screens. We hear about all these blazing fast rbs and slot weapons we have and in a game where we can't move the ball we don't see any of them. We looked like we were playing scared offensively yesterday.

Amen to everyone and good validation for me, shaking my head when we run DM into a wall of great defensive line on 3 and 16. My question is, will CMC's coaching staff or anyone tell give him feedback? Can somebody please link Campbell to this thread. :)?

I'd like to know if Jay Jordan will pick anything apart and show what was available. That would be frustrating but proof that trying the same thing was a bad choice.

....why we saw none of the above plays from last years OU game yesterday? It's like this isn't even the same offense, or team, for that matter. If losing Manning is this dramatic of a difference, then we better pay him whatever he wants to come back.... like now!

When Manning announced he was leaving and everyone started to freak out, I thought CW reported that Campbell called the plays last year anyway. Which would have included the OU game.

My favorite offseason trope is hearing about all of our two-back sets, putting them in the slot, etc. It never happens, but it never keeps our fans from talking about it in July.

It's like we tried to beat Iowa at their own game. Really odd considering how last year's game went.

Our QBs suck.

I get so sick and tired of being right all the time but this pathetic 3.36 yards/play game could be seen coming our way for the last 11 months.

It just sucks that everyone so desperately wants to blame our OL when the root cause is how easy it is to defend a QB with a weak arm, slow wind up & release, and 0 pocket mobility. Kempt at QB means there's about 3 square yards on the field for the defense to defend.

Just wait till we get more talent on the OL (wait till we get more talent...story of ISU football since 1890. All these 3 star OL recruits aren't the 1980s Redskins Hogs).

We just don't have a fan base that understands "winning because of" and "winning in spite of" (like 14-7 vs TCU), so we don't demand more on offense or think how can we move the ball.

I was a little encouraged when vs SDSU we ran a counter trey (OU's bread & butter) then on the 1st drive today we mixed in some diversity with under center sets and 12 personnel, but how quickly we revert back to Mark Mangino zone dives on 1st & 10 from 4 WR sets.

Gee why can't we block anyone?

And can we get a motion handoff to Tarique or Kene to the outside?

Campbell's offense is a bland, uncreative joke that requires a bunch of 5 star OLs.
Eh, Iowa's d ends were eating Foster and Meeker alive. They played absolute awful, Foster has no business starting.

Newell won the starting job, but the staff thought experience should start against Iowa, right? Unless there was some injury I don't know about we should have gone with the lineup that started against SDSU. Losing reps in that first game probably drove that decision. Look how well Rose played. I'd like them to give things a try with the "best" line out there next week.

You can't practice with the guy there all camp and then get chicken feet because he didn't play the first game. That is just, well, we saw how that worked..

The question of the week leading up to the game was which team was at more of a disadvantage due to our cancelled game. I’d say our offensive coaches not knowing what to do trumped Iowa’s not knowing what we might do.

Not even 1% of it was Iowa's defense? Everyone needs to suck it up and get to Trice to support the upcoming win.

I agree completely and dont leave at halftime either ...If you want Campbell to stick around you had better keep filling the stadium for every home game.......

1000% this game is on CMC play calling....period end of discussion..and some of it on poor OL play in 4th qtr.

So Tired of this weak arm non sense and slow wind up etc...such a bunch of bs....did u know that KK was one of the top QB’s in country last year with a 2.2 second time from the snap to the time the ball is thrown...2.2 seconds.

Yea u might wanna do a little research first and actualy go back and watch games from last year..and to boot KK arm looks or looked better than last year

Piss poor ISU play calling cost ISU that game and its not close.

Actually it was THE PISS POOR OFFENSIVE LINE that cost ISU the game......

The 13 and 14 yard punts had nothing to do with the loss? When you start 75+ yards away from the goal line and the other team has to go 40 yards, the defense gets tired and the plays that can be called get fewer and fewer. Wish we had some two back sets also.

Must be, I thought Newell was going to be at Center and JGJ was going to play tackle. Hopefully, JGJ moves to LT, Foster isn't ready to play.

Iowa definitely won the field position game. They flipped the field on us multiple times. But with our play makers we should still be able to move the ball. No excuses for not moving the ball.

Good news was that off of those piss poor punts they scored, what?.. 3 points?

I've had a few days to stew on this.

The playcalling was boring. Now I'm not one to sit here and suggest I know everything there is about football. I have no doubt that Campbell, being an intelligent person and all, called those plays based on what he saw in the defense and the limitations he knew we had offensively. I was really left hoping for something to get a guy on the edge, either a sweep play or a screen pass or something. Honestly, I think Campbell trusted his defense and was hoping Montgomery would make one of those real special plays of his and bust a touchdown. But the lack of creativity, while I'm sure well thought out by Campbell, did become a burden to watch.

I guess I'm just not sure where I'm at on Kempt. I will say I think Lazard made him look good on several occasions last year. But we are going to really struggle if he wont throw the ball downfield. It becomes really hard to score when the defense basically ignores any portion of the field further than about 8 years from the line of scrimmage. But on the other end, we've certainly seen in the past how a reckless QB can throw us out of games before we know it. So I appreciate the fact he's trying to be responsible with the ball.

At the end of the day, I think this team is much better suited to beat Big 12 teams rather than Iowa. Our defensive will be a great asset in the Big 12, probably Top 3 in the league. And this offensive will get things worked out and benefit from playing against far inferior defenses.

I couldn't for the life of me understand why so many people were excited about Kempt's 5th year. I know Zeb isn't a better option at the moment but who is the guy next year? If it's Zeb, I would have been happier with Kempt moving on and Zeb forced to step up.

I too wish Zeb could have gotten all the 1st string reps in camp/practice. Zeb has a lot of upside. But he did skip pass a wide open WR Saturday. Reminded me of Barnett throwing to open receivers. It's not all his fault. Some WR simply dropped the ball (Butler).
