ISU won't stay in front of Louisville and St. Louis in this week's poll. You can't get blown out by an unranked team while the two teams immediately behind you win, and expect to stay in front of those teams. Iowa, Virginia and Creighton are all sure to move up (especially Creighton), and there's a good chance that they'll jump ISU. Texas and Wisconsin will also move up, but probably not enough to be of concern to ISU.

Michigan will drop for sure, but I could see Kentucky staying where they're at -- or even moving up a spot -- since they barely lost to the #3 team; they might drop a spot. MSU is also going to fall.

10. St. Louis
11. Louisville
12. Creighton
13. Kentucky
14. MSU
15. Iowa
16. ISU

I admit I'm biased on those last two. But Iowa and ISU will be in the 15 and 16 spots, IMO. Flip a coin on who gets which spot.

I didn't mean St. Louis and Louisville won't be ahead of ISU, only that I don't think that they should.

Actually, going back and looking at it, I'm hoping for between 13 and 17. Iowa State is 17-1 when ranked 13 and below; 2-4 in the 3 weeks we've been ranked #11 or higher.

Agree with you on a lot of points, disagree elsewhere:

Iowa State won’t jump anyone that was ahead last week — San Diego State, Villanova and Michigan State lost, but so did ISU, and only SDSU’s loss was worse, but that’s not enough to make up six places.

(12) St. Louis and (13) Louisville will jump ISU (as you said) — neither lost this week. That’s 13th.
(14) Kentucky is likely to jump us, since its loss was vs. soon-to-be No. 2 Florida, ISU's loss to West Virginia. Each team's win was expected. Assume that’s 14th.
(18) Creighton will climb for pounding (6) Villanova — will it be more than 4 spots? Perhaps. That’s 15th.
(16) Iowa won at Penn State — will stay mostly steady.
(17) Virginia won twice. Wins aren’t worthy of elevating above Iowa State.

Michigan lost at home to UW, so those two just get closer together in the rankings. No way either rises above Iowa State this week.

It's not about quality wins this week for whether or not Iowa and Virginia pass us. It's about going undefeated this week while we were steamrolled at WV. I think we'll fall below both of them and even Wisconsin (though Michigan will stay behind us).

Right now we are #11. SDSU, even though they're six spots better than us, I assume will drop because it was to a lousy team in Wyoming. Villanova lost to Creighton, so they will drop. Unfortunately, since we dropped one to an unranked team, Villanova will probably still be ahead of us. Michigan State will likely fall behind us since they lost to Nebraska (haha!!!), and most other teams are going to stay put (other than Arizona dropping a few spots for losing, but won't fall behind us). I think Creighton jumps us, too, for their win over Villanova, and maybe one or two other teams will jump us. 14 is my best guess right now. We need to take care of Texas and TCU this week and hope a lot of teams lose so that we can shoot up in the polls next week.

I do not think we will drop that far with the WV loss. It happened right after last week's rankings came out so it will not be fresh in voter's minds. The win over Tech will be fresher in voter's minds.
I agree with a previous post, it is too late in the year for teams to swing in/out, and up/down in the polls. Unless the team goes on a big winning streak/losing streak it is hard for teams to swing too high and too low this late in the season.
Other examples, with Neb beating MSU in East Lansing (how in the world did that happen by the way?), do you think MSU will drop more than a spot? At least our loss was on the road, not at home.

My guess, we will be no worse than 13.....I also felt ISU would beat WV too though.

Mark Berman who is an AP voter that had us at 10 last week dropped us all the way to 22.

I'm guessing we will fall around four spots this week.

I'm guessing 18-20. A huge loss on the road and unimpressive victory at home. We are playing below our ability, that much is evident. If we don't pull off a win tomorrow or at least a blow out of TCU later this week, the perception will become that of a team who looks to be an early exit in the tourney.

11, 12 or 13th is what I would guess. A lot of teams ahead of us lost to poor teams. Big 12 is a grind and we stopped Tech's three game win streak. We won't move down, much IMO....

Stay pretty much the same - one game does not a season make. Had this happened in week 4/5 I would buy a huge drop but we're way deep into the season now and things have kind of settled in. Everybody loses a few through the year - even Syracuse has been a razor's edge away from losing 3-4 games this year.

I'm guessing 14.

My guess is 15 or 16. That would fit right in with the mock selection committee that did their work this weekend and had us at 15 (the 3rd #4 seed).

In my opinion, being ranked around 15th has always just felt right for this team, even in the midst of the winning streak.

I think our seed will be higher than our ranking come selection sunday. We have good-great team but our resume is great without question, especially non conference.

This is somewhat un-related but this seems like as good as anywhere to post it.

Can someone explain to me why Duke is ranked so high this week? They are the #5 team in the nation at 20-5 with only two wins over ranked opponents, #22 Michigan and #18 Pitt. They even have a couple of fairly bad losses on their resume to Notre Dame (14-12) and Clemson (15-9).

I'm guessing Duke's ranked so highly because all of their losses (except for an OT loss at Syracuse) came over 5 weeks ago. They've also been destroying opponents lately. Other than that Syracuse loss and the Maryland game this weekend, their average margin of victory has to be at least 20-25 points over the past month.
