Actually I do have one gripe, Norris was terrible. You're a major league catcher, can you please just throw out one freaking runner?

<Sigh>

Go Royals.

Lester gave up 5 runs. Bad karma. Royals running like Footloose. A's sink/stink in last inning.

Just heard an amazing stat on the ESPN baseball podcast. Jon Lester has not attempted one pickoff throw this entire season! That's incredible. No wonder KC felt they had free reign on the bases (except for Billy Butler, of course). :rolleyes:

Not an A's fan but I'm disappointed that they didn't see more success.

I love when a franchise makes bold moves to win the title. The Athletics were all in. Sadly it didn't pan out.

29th, 27th and 25th in payroll for 2012-2014 and made the play-offs each season. I'll take it even though it could have been better. It really takes a candy*** to troll A's fans IMHO.

Testifying
I am glad the Royals won. Really glad. In July I thought the A's would be playing in the World Series. I do think the A's would have had a better chance now to win the pennant than the Royals. The Angels are breathing a little easier now probably.

The game was basically their season condensed down to a few hours. Starts out great, couple of bobbles, really gets cranked up, then total collapse. I really wanted them to win because I just don't care about KC one way or another (and they're a Bay Area team). But with the way Oakland played to end this season, they probably didn't deserve to move on. The Royals should have fun being swept by the Angels. Not saying that because I'm bitter, because I'm (mostly) not, rather because I felt like whoever the Angels met in the NLDS was going to get swept, regardless.

It's interesting to note that skipper Melvin still has not won a "winner-take-all" game at Oakland. The losing streak of games where, if they win, they would move to the next round has reached 7. That's just awful. You'd think that streak would end at some point prior to now, but I'm starting to think that maybe it won't end until someone else is helming this ship.

I guess no one is going to be in a hurry to start a "2015 Oakland A's" thread for this season. The A's (as of last night) have the worst record in MLB at 13-24. They gave up a 5-2 lead over CWS last night in Oaktown and lost 7-6. Steven Vogt would have tied the game in the bottom of the 9th with two out, but got caught in a rundown between 3rd and home when the 3rd base coach made the poor decision to wave him in. It was their 13th one-run loss of the season. If they split those games to 6-7, the A's would have a winning record overall. So it's not like they've been terrible in all aspects, but something needs to change. Is it the pitching staff (starters and relievers)? The batting lineup? The manager?

They are just miserable right now. I think we knew this season would be a major step though. I've to think some of those 1 run losses willl start going in the other direction and they are just on the wrong side of the coin right now.

Sonny Gray might be the best pitcher in the game right now.

It's the relievers. Their closer is hurt, they were hoping to get a starting pitcher back so they could put Jesse Chavez back in teh bullpen as the long reliever, but he broke his arm.

The errors in the infield are way to high but they were last year too. We have had seasons like this before and ended up making the playoffs. If Billy trades Kaz, he is giving up on the season. If he keeps him then he thinks the playoffs can be made.

Go A's.

Sonny is awesome. Saw him pitch a few weeks back.
