I will say, the one thing I loved doing in Oahu was making the drive from the Southern tip to the North Shore. We were there in calm season, so North Shore was essentially as flat as Lake Michigan (and ironically the southern beaches (Waimanalo Beach
) was as wavy as I've ever seen), but the scenery of the island was beautiful, like everywhere else in Hawaii.

Gotta do Pearl Harbor if you're into that type of experience, and even if you aren't I think it is definitely worth the visit.
Those are the two things we want to see - the North shore drive and Pearl. I'm wondering if we'll be there during the "not" calm season, though? That's hurricane season in the South Atlantic.

We were there in the Summer. If I remember correctly Fall is when the swells start to pick back up and Winter is Big Wave season. So you'll probably be there right before it gets crazy.

Only problem with Maui Invite is the ****** gym that they play in.

I would assume ISU would be getting a Battle 4 Atlantis invite on of these years and I can't recommend going to that one enough. I've done both and Battle 4 Atlantis >>>>>>>>>>>Maui.
The Lahaina Civic Center is much improved from the last time we were there— it’s now air conditioned! Windows were open and fans on the court provided the air flow then.

I officially booked my hotel the other day. Still waiting on non travel package tickets to go on sale. Maybe I won't get them but I'll get a vacation in Hawaii either way. State 47/50 for me.

Exactly how I'm viewing it... Worst case scenerio is ill be watching isu play on a patio bar in Hawaii with plenty of isu fans!

While on the North Shore. I highly recommend swimming with the sharks. It is very exhilarating and a little scary. My whole family loved this and would do it again. I was stationed in Pearl Harbor, so I am biased about going there. Waimea Bay and snorkeling is tamer but still a lot of fun. Maui is a more beautiful island than Oahu and is a better island for couples. Oahu is a better location for singles. However, you can’t go wrong on any island, you are on an island in the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy!

I might, but don't know if I could get PapaLew in there with sharks! We've snorkled in the Caribbean, but I think the water is calmer there, yes?

We can't swim, so we took a submarine to see the fish. Also took a helicopter tour to see all of the islands waterfalls which was fun. Pearl harbor was probably the most memorable though

Well you are in a cage and safe but there is evil in their eyes. We took an underwater camera but I now wish we would have spent the extra money and got the video.

Waikiki beach nightlife is incredible. Even if you struck out one week. A new batch would be there the next week. Even someone as good lookingly challenged as myself got lucky every now and then. Thank god for alcohol!

I'm ugly as hell though and obviously love isn't real, so on a scale of 1-10 what are my chances. :p

Says would seed Clones #4 in Maui:

The Maui Invitational (Nov. 19-21) is back to being the best tournament of the non-conference with Arizona, Auburn, Duke, Gonzaga, Illinois, Iowa State, San Diego State and Xavier. There is no longer a spot in the main field for Chaminade. Here is how I would seed the field: 1. Gonzaga; 2. Duke; 3. Auburn; 4. Iowa State; 5. San Diego State; 6. Xavier; 7. Illinois; 8. Arizona. Wow. Think about this field for a second. In a given year these could be the top eight seeds in a regional. Gonzaga was my top pick for the pre-season Power 36. Duke will get plenty of love for being a top choice. But they still should be 1-2 in some order and be set up on opposite brackets for a possible Maui final.

Iowa State will be a sleeper in the Big 12 with the return of Lindell Wigginton. A quarterfinal matchup between Iowa State and San Diego State would be a high-level March game. And how about the other quarterfinals: Gonzaga-Arizona? Duke-Illinois? Auburn-Xavier? The organizers can’t go wrong with tweaking a few of the bottom four seeds. Gonzaga, Duke and Iowa State are going to have tremendous power-rating schedules based on non-conference games and/or conference slates in the ACC and Big 12 for the latter two. San Diego State is the one school here that can benefit the most by winning two games in this field.

Wow I was thinking the 5-7 range for sure.

Which hotel(s) are you guys staying at?

I am currently at the Andaz Maui down in Wailea which is like a 30min drive to the arena. Mainly because the choices were that or the Ritz if I wanted to use points. When I originally looked none of the ones in Lahaina were available but apparently the Hyatt's up in Lahaina are available now and now I am not sure if I want to change, any thoughts out there?

I am tempted to say there is no such thing as a bad drive on Maui - well except if your hotel is in Hana. ;) Even driving 30 minutes - you'll be in paradise!

We were staying in Kihei last time we were there and even with road construction around that area the drive up to Lahaina wasn't bad.
