Looks like Illinois would be up for playing:

So Illinois has been on ice for two and a half weeks, and they're just going to reassemble a team at Christmas, cram in a handful of practices and go?

Imagine being Wake...dream season, ACC runners-up, and that's your opponent. Better than nothing I guess, but woooooof.

Yes, sounds like the plan. That's why I think most Coaching Staffs/Players would decline the invitation. And it will have been 4 weeks off for these teams since they last played a game or practiced (Nov. 26 or 27).

It would be interesting if you gave players truth serum and ask them if they REALLY would want to come back from their Holiday Break to practice & play in a game after they have been off for several weeks and are now home (many being very far away from campus) with their family. Bet there would be quite a few who wouldn't want to play.

I bet just about any G5 team would play.

But yeah, you have to find someone who is still practicing, ie has a bowl game already, but would have at least a week in-between games too. That is probably a narrow list. But I bet you could get some $$$ from the Gator bowl...

Why the hell would you decline? That's just being lazy
Teams not in a bowl haven’t been practicing and aren’t even on campus. Why would they play? Zero preparation for players and zero planning left for fans. Sounds like a disaster for any team that takes this offer.

to get extra practices and an extra game. It isn't hard to call the players back.

Have the players fly directly to the bowl locations from where they are for xmas (most bowl teams already do this). Get to the location 4 days before the game and treat it like a normal game week (2 regular practices, 1 light practice and 1 walkthrough).

This. It’s not like the kids forgot how to play football or need a month of preparation. People often overstate the hurdles when forgetting it would still be like any regular season week of logistical work.

Exactly. If you get them there 4 days before the game you can get the same prep that you would for a regular season weekly game.

Mizzou takes the opening drive right down the field for a TD vs. Army.

What was Army doing? Clock it and get another couple plays before kicking
