So I just finished the 1st round of my mock draft. This will be edited after free agency and the combine, of course. Here is what I have for now...

Rd. 1
1. Jacksonville: QB Trevor Lawrence (Clemson)
2. NY Jets: QB Zach Wilson (BYU)
3. Miami: OT Penei Sewell (Oregon)
4. Atlanta: CB Patrick Surtain II (Alabama)
5. Cincinnati: OT Rashawn Slater (Northwestern)
6. Philadelphia: LB Micah Parsons (Penn State)
7. Detroit: WR Ja'Marr Chase (LSU)
8. Carolina: QB Justin Fields (Ohio State)
9. Denver: CB Caleb Farley (Virginia Tech)
10. Dallas: CB Jaycee Horn (South Carolina)
11. NY Giants: DE Gregory Rousseau (Miami)
12. San Francisco: QB Trey Lance (North Dakota State)
13. L.A. Chargers: OT Alex Leatherwood (Alabama)
14. Minnesota: OG Alijah Vera-Tucker (USC)
15. New England: WR Jaylen Waddle (Alabama)
16. Arizona: TE Kyle Pitts (Florida)
17. Las Vegas: LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (Notre Dame)
18. Miami: WR DeVonta Smith (Alabama)
19. Washington: QB Mac Jones (Alabama)
20. Chicago: OT Christian Darrisaw (Virginia Tech)
21. Indianapolis: LB Zaven Collins (Tulsa)
22. Tennessee: DE Carlos Basham Jr. (Wake Forest)
23. NY Jets: RB Najee Harris (Alabama)
24. Pittsburgh: DT Christian Barmore (Alabama)
25. Jacksonville: DT Jay Tufele (USC)
26. Cleveland: OLB Azeez Ojulari (Georgia)
27. Baltimore: C Creed Humphrey (Oklahoma)
28. New Orleans: S Trevon Moehrig (TCU)
29. Green Bay: WR Rondale Moore (Purdue)
30. Buffalo: CB Tyson Campbell (Georgia)
31. Tampa Bay: DE Kwity Paye (Michigan)
32. Kansas City: OG Wyatt Davis (Ohio State)

If DeVonte Smith, Jaylen Waddle, Kwity Paye or Christian Barimore are available at 14. I want them on the Vikings!! You don't win Super Bowls drafting swing offensive lineman in Round 1.

Bama WR's are dudes. Can you imagine Jefferson Theilen and Smith as your top 3 WR's!!! That's a top 5 offense than can score with anyone if Dalvin stays healthy and the new OC doesn't over call running plays on early down and be predictable.

Paye and Barimore give you guys who can get after a QB. With Hunter and Michael Pierce coming back for 2021-2022. That d-line would really improve the defense.

Honestly, if the board fell like this and I was Minnesota. I'd try to trade back and get a late 1 plus a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick. This team needs multiple cheap rookie contracts if they keep paying Cousins

I had him going #3 to Miami, but if Sewell is available at that spot they MUST take him. He is the best o-line prospect to enter the draft in years, and there is plenty of great WRs that they could take one later. If the Giants take a WR, I think Ja'Marr Chase would be a better fit since they have smaller WRs already and Chase has pretty good size. Waddle to New England just makes sense. Although I have Smith rated as the #1 WR, I could see him being taken 3rd of the bunch.
Ja Marr chase is an inch shorter than Smith, so what are you talking about?

Mahomes would have won the SB if he had his tackles and wasn't running for his life.
Agree the Vikes need defensive lineman, and OTs, and LBs, and WRs. But WRs should be way down the line.

I never understand how these fall into place especially with Qbs. If I was NY I would keep Darnold and take the obvious best available. If Im washington, Id ride with smith another year and also continue to develop the young back up they just signed and go get the best available LB at that spot from Tulsa. Just blows me away sometimes.

For Green Bay, both Wagner and Turner are aging veterans and not long-term answers. Spriggs didn't pan out - they still have 3 OL from last year's draft, but if a plug-and-play tackle was there at #29, I'd have to think they'd take him.

I really CB is most likely, simply because FA CBs command too much money. And they won't have a lot to throw around this year.

WR is the second most important position in today's NFL. If the KC WR's didn't have so many drops. It would have been a lot closer

I obviously have no idea what Trader Rick will do. If a WR is the best guy on the board when their number is called, the Vikes could very well go that route. Or Zimmer may go CB again!
IMO, they'll go for need-- DL or OL in Rd. 1.

I've given up hope on minnesota fixing the OL. It's been a problem for at least a decade. DL wouldn't shock me

I noticed UNI had a few guys getting drafted in the early rounds. Makes you wonder where they are finding their talent at.
Elerson Smith is a guy that I hope the Vikings grab in round 4 if he is still on the board. He looked good from what I saw of him at Senior Bowl practice. Could be a solid NFL pass rusher. UNI's OT (I forget his name) is a massive human being that scouts have raved about. Benny Sapp's son also transferred to UNI from Minnesota but I don't think he will be in this years draft.

Absolutely Love this for Minnesota!

Here is why - Offense wins in today's NFL. This gives you 2 top 10 WR's in the NFL, a Heisman trophy rookie and a top 5 running back going into what I believe will be a make or break year for Cousins in a purple uniform. Two of those WR contracts are dirt cheap at the 3rd most expensive position on a roster. That gives you a lot of cap space to stop drafting o-lineman (Speilman's weakness) and go get some proven vets.

If 2021-2022 sucks like this year did. You get to tear it down with 2-3 CHEAP years on some stud weapons for a QB to re-start with. They get to learn from Thielen next year before you can cut, trade or restructure his aging body and expensive contract.

WR is the second most valuable position for WAR according to PFF. Time to build a Chiefs like offense and give Cousins the weapons. It either works this coming year. Or you are really setting up your future QB in a great spot
