I'm gonna make a prediction before any of the "experts" do. If Penei Sewell is on the board at #4, the Chargers will trade up to take him.

The new mock draft I'm working on has 5 trades in round 1, with the #4 pick being the first trade.

I got Cincinnati taking Kyle Pitts at #5 and then trading for the #13 pick later, and taking OT Rashawn Slater. I got Washington trading up to #15 to take Mac Jones, Green Bay trading up to #21 to take LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, and Buffalo trading up to #25 to take DE Jayson Oweh.

This is a work in progress, which will be a full 7 round mock before draft day, but here is what I have for round 1.....

1. Jacksonville: QB Trevor Lawrence (Clemson)
2. N.Y. Jets: QB Justin Fields (Ohio State)
3. San Francisco: QB Zach Wilson (BYU)
4. L.A. Chargers: OT Penei Sewell (Oregon) ***Chargers trade pick 13 (rd 1), pick 78 (rd 3) and 2022 2nd round pick to Atlanta for pick 4 (rd 1) and 2022 5th round pick.
5. Cincinnati: TE Kyle Pitts (Florida)
6. Miami: WR DeVonta Smith (Alabama)
7. Detroit: WR Ja'Marr Chase (LSU)
8. Carolina: QB Trey Lance (North Dakota State)
9. Denver: CB Patrick Surtain II (Alabama)
10. Dallas: CB Jaycee Horn (South Carolina)
11. N.Y. Giants: DE Gregory Rousseau (Miami)
12. Philadelphia: LB Micah Parsons (Penn State)
13. Cincinnati: OT Rashawn Slater (Northwestern) ***Cincinnati trades pick 38 (rd 2), pick 150 (rd 5) and 2022 1st round pick to Atlanta for pick 13 (rd 1).
14. Minnesota: T/G Alijah Vera-Tucker (USC)
15. Washington: QB Mac Jones (Alabama) ***Washington trades pick 19 (rd 1), pick 83 (rd 3) and 2022 3rd round pick to New England for pick 15 (rd 1) and pick 178 (rd 5).
16. Arizona: CB Caleb Farley (Virginia Tech)
17. Las Vegas: DT Christian Barmore (Alabama)
18. Miami: DE Kwity Paye (Michigan)
19. New England: WR Jaylen Waddle (Alabama)
20. Chicago: OT Christian Darrisaw (Virginia Tech)
21. Green Bay: LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (Notre Dame) ***Green Bay trades pick 29 (rd 1), pick 136 (rd 4) and 2022 3rd round pick to Indianapolis for pick 21 (rd 1) and 2022 6th round pick.
22. Tennessee: OLB Azeez Ojulari (Georgia)
23. N.Y. Jets: RB Najee Harris (Alabama)
24. Pittsburgh: OT Teven Jenkins (Oklahoma State)
25. Buffalo: DE Jayson Oweh (Penn State) ***Buffalo trades pick 30 (rd 1) and pick 94 (rd 3) to Jacksonville for pick 25 (rd 1) and 2022 5th round pick.
26. Cleveland: LB Zaven Collins (Tulsa)
27. Baltimore: S Trevon Moehrig (TCU)
28. New Orleans: WR Elijah Moore (Mississippi)
29. Indianapolis: WR Kadarius Toney (Florida)
30. Jacksonville: DT Jay Tufele (USC)
31. Kansas City: OT Alex Leatherwood (Alabama)
32. Tampa Bay: DE Jaelen Phillips (Miami)
There's been a lot of speculation that the 49ers really like Mac Jones at 3. That seems awfully high, but the rumor is out there. If that's the case and Fields or Zach Wilson is still sitting there at 4, the Falcons will have plenty of trade options. Or they might consider taking Matt Ryan's replacement.

I’d have a hard time taking Jones with Wilson and Fields still on the board.

That's just the media making those claims about San Fran and Jones. I doubt the Falcons take a QB. Ryan is still playing at a high level, but they might not want to pay him. I guess it probably comes down to that. But they have some needs that need to be addressed on defense. This is why I think they will trade down. The Chargers jumping ahead of Cinci makes perfect sense. Sewell played with Herbert in college, and he is one of the most dominant o-line prospects in the last decade.

If Lance goes before Fields, which he very well might, then I just don't understand the NFL. I know Fields is a year older but Lance is such a wild card. Fields has played and excelled against much better competition. Lance played one game last season and it was against an FCS opponent.

It would be a classic NBA move where a team picks "potential" over a proven commodity and those don't seem to work out that often.

Round 2

50) Miami: RB Javonte Williams (North Carolina)
51) Washington: RB Travis Etienne (Clemson)

You're telling me a RB doesn't go till pick 50? That doesn't seem right.

If looking for something to watch tonight there is a show on ESPN 2 called "Hey Rookie, Welcome to the NFL" on at 7:30 Central tonight. Follows several prospects as they prepare for the draft. It's the 2nd episode of 4 and last weeks watch was pretty good.
