Free agency is going to be crazy as soon as it opens up. Not a lot of time for the big names to be messing around for bigger deals now.

I anticipate this was nothing more than urgent stopgap to get a season in. I doubt there's a lot of hand shaking and champagne sipping over the agreement, but something had to be done to salvage the season. The same issues that arose this time around will likely linger and become the focus with the next CBA talks.

But, hey, baseball is back! Let's Go Royals!

No surprise that the 4 dissenting teams are all big spenders.

Disappointed in the executive subcommittee members though. I'm not sure anything other than getting everything they wanted would have been good enough for them.
I’m a Cardinals fan and hate that they voted against it, but they are not big spenders. Not like the Yankees, Mets, and Dodgers. Think they were about 10th of 30 teams.

Edit: Astros also not big spenders

Believe I heard 5 out of the 8 were Scott Boras clients so that doesn't shock me then.

I suppose you could argue the Cardinals aren't although they were 10th in total payroll for 2021 at over $171 million. The Astros were 5th at over $195 million and I'd consider top 5 to be big spenders for sure. It falls off pretty far after the Cardinals. The Braves were 11th at $153 million.
