It's such a weird thing with Texas and OU fans. Why are you shitting on the conference that has been your home for so long, has bent over backwards for you and none of the remaining schools did anything to you other than beat your ass on the field the last decade plus if you are Texas?

Missouri fans did it because they were getting out from Texas' shadow and all of the crap the Longhorns did while everyone original was in the league. A&M was the same thing, so I get that, as it was a chant to stick it to Texas.

But chanting "S-E-C!" at the Big 12 Championship Game for Texas and OU would be very weird. Nobody left is Nebraska of old or A&M. Texas fans will let Yormark hear it for sure. Just a strange thing, as teams like Kansas State, Iowa State, WVU, Oklahoma State, etc. have been nothing but phenomenal conference mates since the Big 12 was created from all accounts.

I could buy this argument if the league office wasn't actively anti Texas/OU.

I think the league has every right to give Texas and OU the proverbial bird on their way out of the door, but when you do it you don't then get to complain when they do it back.

How are they actively anti Texas/OU? And if all you have is Yormark’s remarks at a Texas Tech event then try again. That’s any commissioner or person of stature playing to a fanbase.

Look at the schedule they gave OU this year, it’s an absolute joke. They got three of the newbies and don’t have to play their biggest nemesis, K State. If the league office wanted to be anti OU they would have made them play in Manhattan or at the very least played K State.

Neither Texas or OU have to go to Morgantown, which is tricky regardless of how good WVU is. Same for Lubbock, neither go to that hell hole.

my first time watching game day in a couple years. man this just feels old and stale
Just watched a video on how Gameday has really faded and is a distant second behind Big Noon Kickoff. This image was on the screen for several minutes as they discussed Gameday.

I have always watched gameday just out of habit. Might be time to try the Big Noon Kickoff Sat.

I know I'm rare in my opinion, and it's just an opinion, but I think McAfee ruins the entire thing. IN MY OPINION (I always get killed saying this), his over the top, uninformed comments, and narcissistic like tendencies bring out the worst in the show. I've watched it for years and just can't. Fox's show usually isn't from the best location, but they seem more level headed.

Yeah, a whole range of reasons the show has gone downhill. An extra hour probably didn't help. Focusing on too many sob stories probably didn't help. A decreasing diversity of gameday locations probably didn't help (I think they repeated venues 3x last year). I get not wanting to be at a bad game, but there are plenty of good games every week. Gameday should be a celebration of college football as a whole, and that's weakened when its the same spots again and again.

And, well, add all the other reasons that ESPN as a whole isn't all that great aside from actual games.

The only time I watch ESPN is for games, I can't remember the last time I watched SC.

Maybe get other people on there who aren't Big 10 or SEC homers. Just a suggestion.

I will leave GameDay on in the background Saturday morning just because it seems right in the fall. Makes me excited for the day but I do agree that it's really not that great. It's more background nostalgia than anything

I love as the season gets going and these small school games are on.

Hardly anyone's at LA Tech/W. KY and the players still look like they're having a blast.

I like Van Pelt and Stanford Steve. I'll watch that one occasionally. Get a kick out of "Bad Beats".

Those two are still on?

I used to enjoy the VP and Russilo show like 12-13 years ago.

So distant second in your mind or by actual numbers? because Gameday still outdraws Big Noon Kickoff in the head to head final hour of the show. Big Noon Kickoff has gained a ton of ground and could pass Gameday someday soon every week but ratings for the first week of September (first I could find) was 2.69 Million Gameday vs 1.58 Million for Fox on the average.

Couple that with Gameday being in its 37th season I believe, and they had their second most watched season in 2022. 37 seasons is a long damn time, and most things trend way down at that point. We shall see what Big Noon does going forward to keep momentum rolling.

Okie State coming out with the trick plays.

Imo it's generally not a good sign when those get pulled out early.
