Why compromise to keep in KC? The new schools should not be able to move the championships in year one. Earn your time in the conference it would be just like when we bowed down to Texas and OU and let them decide where things should be. The original 8 should get to decide for the first few years at least. Utah already has issues thinking they will run the conference and their AD is the one who killed the PAC. Let’s not listen to him one but at all.
Well, I don't like the game @ Arlington, and I think it would be better @ Las Vegas. NOW, with 5 western teams in the conference, there is a reason to move it.

That's true, but it would still be better to play @ Las Vegas instead of @ Arlington (which has a bigger, harder to fill stadium in the middle of nowhere).

Its not that hard to fill for championship games. Its centrally located and DFW is obviously easy to fly to. Being "in the middle of nowhere" is rather meaningless when most fans will be traveling hours to go to the game

Itd be worse out in vegas from that standpoint. The incoming PAC schools dont really have a history of traveling to these things all that well even when in their backyard

Not exactly sure.

CCGs closer to the middle of the conference will have better attendance. Because a lot of fans drive to them so having it be an okay drive for half the conference is better than it being an okay drive for 1-2 teams.

If Michigan loses to Iowa, it should be an automatic disqualification from the playoffs. No team that loses to the Hoks should be allowed to have a crack at the natty.
That being said, the media will go out of their way to guarantee that some Big 10 will make the playoffs.

Yeah, you’re right, we need to bow down and let teams that destroyed their conference run things. BRILLIANT idea.

It needs to stay with the hateful 8.

What?! There is a 0% Georgia drops to 6 lol
Well, in this scenario, Michigan (13-0), Washington (13-0) and Florida State (13-0) would all be undefeated, P5 Conference Champions. Then, Texas (12-1) would be Big Xii Champion which beat SEC Champion Alabama (12-1) which would have beaten Georgia (12-1). So, where would you rank Georgia in that jumble?

Big 12 championship game has had better attendance since the pac 12 has been in Vegas. And well before that too

It's not about bowing down. They are in the Big Xii now, and I think it is a good move for the conference as a whole. Football Championship @ Las Vegas and Basketball Championships @ KC (forever). :) As an Iowa State fan, I would be much more interested and consider going to a Big Xii Football Conference Championship @ Las Vegas instead of @ Arlington. Apparently, that might just be me! :)

That is definitely true, but I would expect the Big Xii to have better attendance @ Las Vegas than the Pac (with the exception of last night's game). That's a very good point though. If nobody wants to travel to Las Vegas for the game, it's not a good idea. I can only speak for myself, but I would rather fly to @ Las Vegas to see Iowa State play than fly to @ Arlington. The location of Jerry's World sucks, and the Las Vegas Stadium is very convenient in Las Vegas in a location with more to do besides the game.

Those are valid points. I'm not willing to die on this hill, but as I have said before, I'd rather go see Iowa State @ Las Vegas than @ Arlington. Could be just me, and I don't have a vote! :)

Lots of us are joking about Ohio State getting in, but there’s really no path for the Buckeyes. There’s just too many other teams that are potentially 12-1 or 13-0, most of them conference champions. I can’t see them jumping up enough spots to get in the top four, especially since they’re not even playing.

I suppose if Michigan, FSU, Georgia, and Texas all lose, then maybe … then we could see Bama/Georgia/Ohio State. That’s the only possibility I can think of.

Kinda delicious to think that in the original 2014 playoff it was that “13th data point” that got Ohio State in over TCU, and now in the final four-team playoff it’s that same “13th data point” that’s going to keep them out.

Too bad big 10 championship is the way it is. If they had next year's future guidelines this year osu would of got another shot at Michigan to make their case.

If they lose to this Iowa team they should be excluded from the playoffs for about 10 years. ;)

That’s your opinion and they don’t care about that. They will go with the masses.

It is because the teams have been local for the most part. OuT is gone. So you’re going to have a lot less local attendance than you’ve had in the past. Now that most fans will have to travel, is Vegas really any harder to get to than Arlington?

The event is going to turn from a one day in and out game that OuT fans have been accustomed to, to a weekend excursion for the new Big12. So attendance will be less. But it would be better for those who do attend.

The Utah schools do not travel to Vegas for the Pac hoops tournament. Pac tournament in Vegas is an exclusively Arizona home game situation because they are 80% of the fans.

I’m sure fb is a different story.

I would as well. If I still lived in Midwest I’d rather fly to Vegas because I think I’d be flying to Arlington anyway. I’m guessing that is the case for most fans outside of 4x Texas schools and maybe OKSt.

Basically you have 4/5 schools where Arlington is probably a drive for fans and 4 where Vegas is a drive. For fb I think those programs travel equally.
