The duality of “BYU could be out of it so they won’t be motivated” and “KState is out of it, but they want to ruin our season”. All of these guys are elite competitors with a lot to prove for their college and professional prospects.

if only human human emotions and how they affect motivations were as simple as you state. the distraction what's-his-name with the portal as well as being elimination IS going to have some kind of impact on K-State tonight. maybe it'll be all the motivation they need to give us hell tonight... or it could be what sinks the team. that NIL distraction is NOT a small thing - that's one of their best players.

Houston has played 2 games EVER in below freezing temps. Over 90% of their team is from the south. I'd guess most of these players have never played in temps this cold in their life and without anything to play for, I guess they will want to get on the bus as fast as possible.

That’s common thinking. And it does happen. But in my experience you take those factors and make it a personal and team challenge to overcome the adversity. Just depends on how popular and respected the coaches are, how solid the brotherhood is.

So it comes down to BYU winning unless Cincy can turn it around, right?

1. for the last week i've never strayed from the four leaders winning being the easiest path for ISU to the championship game

2. still... it's not like Cincy is down multiple scores like every other Big 12 team today. then again, I haven't been watching that game and for all I know Cincy is playing like total dog crap.

Baylor and Cincy…we had reasons to believe they could win. Cincy not dead yet but needs to score this half.

ASU should’ve been a huuuge fav over Arizona and tech has been playing pretty well so I never expected those to help us.

BYU losing at home to Houston would be one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Cincy down 7-10. Back in the game!

Recommend listening to Cincy on Varsity network radio, their radio guy is a time warp to listening to Pete Taylor call ISU.

Right. Though it's just as I've been saying all week - with who all CU, ASU, and BYU were playing this week (OSU, AZ, UH), all of them winning their games was always going to be the most likely route for us. And so far it hasn't even been close... and I don't expect UH to give BYU much of a game either.

Which is why I've also been of the opinion all week that as long as ISU takes care of business everything else will work itself out.

Yeah we'd have NO CHANCE if we tried to get the help this week vs when we got the help last week.

So let me confirm what I think you’re saying:

The hundreds of people on the rosters and staffs of 3 independent football programs are consciously competing in accordance with their own interests, unaware of the subconscious forces driving them to silently collude to **** over Iowa State?
