Test drove a cherokee today. Really liked it - smooth ride and great interior. Not until after did I realize it was the same size as the cRV and escape, both which I consider "chick cars".

Does anyone here have a cherokee, do you like it, is it large enough for you, and is anyone else looking at one.

I have a large SUV now so I'm spoiled as far as size so I'm afraid to get a smaller car but my budget is only around 20kk.

I've had 3 (92, 98,08) and my current will be my last. Each has gotten less reliable than the former.

I had a 97 inline 6 grand cherokee with 275k miles and the only thing it had trouble with was cracked intake manifold. I wanted to drive that thing as long as possible but then the wife totaled it.

Then I got 02 grand cherokee and was also a pretty good vehicle with the exception of the heater core issue, which needed to be replaced.

Now I have a year old latitude and so far I like it with the exception of trying to get used to less space than grand cherokee. Beside less space, it also doesn't have as responsive transmission when downshifting as I would prefer. I was also considering Mazda CX-5 when I got my jeep. Next vehicle will definitely be the grand cherokee size.

This is why I park in the spaces far far away from the Jeeps and the store entrances. :twitcy:

Oh I'm always courteous of other people's cars in parking lots. Just because I don't get worked up about scratches and dents doesn't mean other people share that same feeling.

I just forgot about garbage day once when I was backing out of the driveway. Jeep-1, garbage can-0.

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I love it. Quite a bit of a change from my 2 door Civic, but I guess everyone has to grow up at some point.

A lot of people seem to be getting the Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee mixed up. They are not close to being the same.

One runs about $25k-$30k. The other runs about $35k-$60k (minus SRT). Completely different drivetrain, interiors, etc.

I had a GC for around 4 years. I put a lot of miles on my vehicles (I travel for work and love going to CO). I will never forget the fact that I had it in the shop three times in the first two months of ownership. She ran great after that but at around 90k I started getting nervous. Ended up trading it in for a 4Runner. The Jeep was very easy to use and always said it would be great for someone who didn't know what they were doing (from an off-roading standpoint). I just wanted something a little more reliable...also a benefit that it doesn't depreciate as fast either :)

I had a 2006 GC for 6 years. Loved it but had the same experience as you. Once I hit 95,000 things started going downhill quickly and it wasn't reliable.

And notice nobody's really talking about the Grand Cherokee in this thread - except for you. Nice vehicle - for an FCA product.

I mean, I guess I don't have a ton of room to talk because my wife and I just bought a '15 Ford Edge, which essentially is no different from the Cherokee - but at least Ford isn't pretending that the Edge is a Bronco.

wife has a 2015 we bought with 15 miles on it. Worst car we have ever owned. We get a new car about every 3 years, and we are trying to get out of this one now. Has about 10k miles on it now and has a new trans and rear axel. Our friend has one and has the same problem. Jeep released them knowing that the transmissions were terrible. We have had 5 recalls and software updates all the time.

here is a news report dealing with it. It is pretty big news.
