I thought the defense played great, so it wasn’t all bad. The only thing lacking from them was creating turnovers. But only allowing 173 total yards? I don’t have data to support this claim, but I would imagine that would win 85-90%+ of the time by allowing under 175 total yards. Really the only way to lose a game like that is if the offense gives up turnovers and/or special teams gaffs.

Both happened. Giving up 4 turnovers, including 3 in a row, will not win many games. Special teams were sub par today.

Iowa simply didn’t shoot themselves in the foot today. We decided not only to shoot our foot, but kept shooting at it until the outcome was essentially known.

Attention to special teams obviously is lowest priority for this coach. Occasionally there are bright spots, but overall it's poor if you have a "win in the margins" philosophy. It becomes glaring when facing an opponent that has long history of field position/kicking/punting emphasis.

Punting and punt returns are lowest priority of all. It's clearly an afterthought.

special teams were nothing short of horrific today, zero improvement

I now question whether Manning is that bad, or Brock just isn’t executing. Honestly I didn’t mind the play calling today. The execution was piss poor. I mean, it’s self evident.

Brocks a baller and never gives up, but he’s looking increasingly limited. I know everyone says “just roll him out every play”, but why the hell can’t he see the field otherwise? He doesn’t throw guys open either.

the O line looked pretty good IMO. Let’s not forget Iowa has an outstanding defense. Outside his fumble, Breece looked good. Brock (rb) looked really good. I honestly dont know if the receivers looked good because I can’t see the whole field on tv.

our D was fantastic again as always.
Breece looked awful today. He looks hurt to me, no explosiveness, what was his longest run?

Our receivers were a total joke also, no ability to get open or get any separation. X didn't do much of anything and that interception was his fault.

Kolar and our tight ends completely non-existent for the 2nd straight game. This was one of the biggest offensive ****fests I've seen in quite some time.

East of Neptune, IA.
CMC made a change with S&C leadership because he knew we were not elite in that area. He's got to make the same evaluation with his OC. Our offense was not ready to play today.
And bring in a punt return coach while you're at it.

Remember how ISU did practice with a lot of contact this year? This is the result. WR dropping passes when they get bumped, fumbling when guys get hit, etc. Hopefully CMC will not do that again.

Duh!
Missed Kene today, needed him to flip the field and momentum like he did a few times last year. I know they were good kicks offs with little chance for returns, but add our approach to the punt game and….

At the game I’m almost surprised people didn’t boo at our punt return stuff. It has become either - fair catch, or, let it drop 20 yards back to make your field position worse.

1. Whatever they did in the off season is working for the D and ruined the O.
2. It sucks losing especially to Iowa.
3. This football season suddenly became a lot less interesting which bums me out. I really thought that this would be our year. If you lose, fine. Just don’t wet the bed.

Thing is, if this were an inexperienced young team making these mistakes, I'd chalk it up to a learning experience. The fact that a veteran team is having these mishaps is concerning.

Campbell's teams have always responded well to adversity, so hopefully he and the staff are able to get things back on track. Whether it's with the players or from some internal reflection.

Campbell teams have always been misleading, on the face of it. The numbers don’t lie. we Don’t dominate games, but we win. I’m surprised at how many yards we get in a given game when it looks like we are flailing. It’s why he always says that he needs to review the tape.
