You have to wonder how connected someone like Palmer really is in a situation like this. How much of his information is he getting from people with direct knowledge of the situation? This feels more like a wish list than an actual candidate pool.

I mean Tomlin is a future HOF Head Coach. He is in his 15 years with the Steelers and has never had a losing record. Why would he leave that to go into the college coaching ranks?

These clowns do realize that Texas had to settle for Steve Freakin' Sarkisian, right? And they think they can get these guys?

This should be a CLEAR message to all these schools. The days of blue blood schools cycling through whatever successful head coaches from other schools they want every three years until they find one that wins big are over. Their best bet is a mutual tiring between PSU and Franklin. Now that every P5 school, and yes, that will still include ISU, can pay these coaches $4 plus mil a year you are seeing guys turn down these jobs where there will be no patience, appreciation, and no willingness for the big donors to get the **** out of the way and let the coach do his job. This is especially true in places where the culture is less than stellar.

Agree that entire list is wishful thinking. Campbell's name gets thrown around because no media member seems to understand why he likes it here. Fickel and Cinci are similar.

I don't understand why Franklin's name is on every job. Is it his agent shopping him, trying to get a better contract with Penn St? Dude makes a lot of money at a school that could pay him a lot more if they wanted.

What should be clear is that the blue blood circle is tightening and it moves faster than it once did. You better come with double figure millions of dollars per year if you want a name coach or else enjoy your hot coordinator, retread, or long time nfl coach that hasn’t recruited.

It’s also pretty clear that moat of the “gettable” HC talent resides in the “Midwest” conferences. The west coast is a cfb wasteland right now.

Not sure what to even make of this program. Cal recruiting is probably good, but everybody goes there if they can. I'm sure there's adequate funding but not the best and they should be a big dog in the conference. Fan support? Looks terrible, at least from the stands at games. Pac also not great.

Is USC a good job? Has to rank worse than it ever has, right?(maybe thats still high)

I think USC is basically Miami at this point. Its best days are past it. Fertile recruiting ground, great weather, strong history, private schools with wealthy & connected alumni… and yet they continue to underwhelm. In fact, both have been surpassed by better brands and better teams in their own conferences (Oregon, Clemson) over the last decade.

Of the two, USC could rise higher than Miami. But both have an uphill battle to get where they were in the early 00’s.

Anyone else getting tired of enjoying their day as usual and having one of these reports get dropped?

I ignore them at this point. I feel like he is really content here, and he's a different kind of guy. Not saying he won't ever leave, but it would have to be the exact right opportunity for him.
