What an active night! Hopefully, everybody stays safe. Tornadoes are scary enough, but at night when you can't see them is even worse.

The tornado that is causing Algona's sirens to go off is associated with the same storm that spawned tornados earlier tonight.

KAAL reports 2 inch hail in the Algona area.

My mom just text me and said the sirens are going off again in Algona so that would make sense.

Chased the storms a bit later on this evening, caught the Tornado in the Fonda/Varina area, pretty neat, next storm that rolled only had a funnel. Though about following to the Algona area but was fairly tired.

What a crazy evening. Saw the Mapleton, one of the Odebolt, another one I'm not sure where it was near, and the Fonda tornado. Thoughts and prayers to those affected tonight.

My chase account and pictures of three of those tornadoes can be seen on my storm chasing blog. Central Iowa Storm Chaser

Very nice, I wasn't serious enough to go out and chase in western Iowa but I did follow the one cell as it went thru the Fonda and Varina area, the second cell which pushed thru the area might have had a tornado but I personally couldn't confirm. Then I wrapped up the severe weather night with a little bit of pea to dime sized hail over my house just a few minutes ago.

I am headed back to CR for the day to take care of some family stuff...hopefully the drive isn't too interesting.

The dryline may already be firing up.

Last night was only a taste of things to come. If everything holds form for the next few hours, I'll be looking into the heart of the Bear's Den around 5-6 tonight.

Mods: Could someone rename this thread to "Official Spring Storm Thread" so we don't get 10,000 threads about weather between now and summer?

Don't open them if you don;t want to read them. At best, there are 2 per week.
