At this point Rhoads was getting 2 competetive quarters out this team. Now are getting 3. Gonna take a bit more I think to start putting away people who are better at winning.

If we finish 5-1 the koolaid drinking going into next year will probably be at an all time high. Truth be told, the trajectory this team is on supports that. However, at some point there has to be a cap to how much a team can improve in one year.

A winning record to close out the year would be a lot of fun, and isn't impossible with the capabilities of this team and the Big 12 not being very good.

Saturday will be interesting.

I keep expecting the trend of a bad game popping up, but that didn't happen last weekend.

Yes I'm on crack. If we can get a W at Texas, then I do think we have a fighting chance to beat KSU, KU, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. Assuming that all comes to fruition, then we'll all have to admit Paul Rhoads was right about this being a bowl team and I'm not sure how to handle that.

At the beginning of the season I thought we had to have 3-4 wins in the first 7 to go bowling this year. Definitely not out of the question to go 5-1 to find finish, but I'm skeptical at this point.

While winning 6 games is mathematically possible, I'm not sure what Paul Rhoads has to do with it if we do win 6 games. IF we do win 6 games, it is in-spite of Paul, not because of him.

I agree you are not on crack. I felt with how crappy the Big12 is that if we would have won the last two games, or even one of them, that we could have won the league. No one has a defense.

Can you imagine if we would have been 2-1 in the conference after playing 3 of the top 4 teams? I'm all of the sudden angry just thinking about this.

I'd just like to beat purple Kansas this year.
I AGREE Completely beating billy bob snyder in JTS hasnt happened in a coon's age or since the days of Jimmie Dean Walden...............

3 wins vs Snyder since 1989 is an extremely bad record of Futility.......................Go Cyclones Beat Purple Kansas..........

Would we go bowling if we got to 5 wins?

This is my question as well. I would say there is only about a 10-15% chance of that happening, but still.

Nebraska went 5-7 last year, won a bowl game, and carried that momentum to get off to a good start this year (albeit against a very weak schedule, sorry Jared).

On a different note, I would rank the schedule in order of difficulty remaining at:
1. OU
2. WVU
3. K-State
4.@Texas
5.Texas Tech
6. @Kansas

Love that 4 remaining are at home and that one is at Kansas. Not an easy stretch by any means, but probably the softest portion of our schedule.

I was going to say WVU seems to high but it really isn't. The schedule just isn't very hard.

Sadly, I think we are going to look back at this season and realize we really blew it. Big 12 is quite bad this year, and letting UNI beat us in our house is pathetic.

We should have finished off Toledo and KSU last year to be at least 5-7, and we were right there with Iowa and OSU in fourth quarter. At least our under-achievement led to a change in coaches, which was a positive.

More of the same this year. If we finish 4-8, going to suck knowing how we had 6-6 in our hands and choked it. Hope our under-achievement this year results in something positive going forward.

We were so down on the Team and coaches after the 1st 3 games, now things are going so "great", we can win the next 5; both are extreme views IMO. I am so pleased that we are seeing signs of life and making good improvement. I would be happy if we are able to win 2 more, and be competitive in the rest. Just being rationale. Could we win 3-4 more?, Yes, but this is still Bg 12, I'll believe it when I see it.
I am very optimistic w/ this coaching staff and direction though.

A bowl trip and win (even for a 5-7 team) would be a good thing for the program, especially for the seniors who get a chance to leave on a positive note. But I do think the momentum is an overrated aspect of a bowl trip in most cases. The real value is in the extra practice reps for the younger players. It's basically a bonus spring ball session. Invaluable for the guys who didn't see the field much this year but will be counted on to play and play well next year.

All that said, let's see them close out one game first this Saturday and then we can talk somewhat seriously about five wins.
