I'll never understand how that team didn't make a Final Four run...
Generally defense has to happen to really put one together.

I’ve been there. LolI thought I was going to get banned in the game thread. I didn't post during the game but when I came home I typed something about the floor slapping that I was sure it would be auto starred it was not LOL. The mods were benevolent that night.
The two loudest times that come to mind for me would be that shot by Naz you mentioned, or the 2004 game against Texas. ISU was up by 1 point and Brian Boddicker had two free throws at the end that could have won it for Texas. The place was super loud as he missed both shots.
It was actually Stinson to Blalock to Clark and it was amazing.another insane loud moment was a Blalock steal leading to a behind the back pass to Rashon clark for a violent dunk against UVA back in either 05 or 06. I was trying to find it on youtube but I am not sure it exists.
It's like one of those "thats as far back as I can remember" points in life for me. I never knew somewhere could get so damn loud.
That was an awesome game. Crowd was dead when we got down big but the place got loud in a hurry as we chipped away at it.
Some of the games they have selected for the 75 year anniversary of Hilton clips on the scoreboard I'm not certain some of them were the best choices when you think of big games or Hilton Magic against the opponent. The one against Texas I thought they really missed on what I think may be the loudest moment I have ever heard in Hilton which was the "Fizer over Mihm" game. That's still one of the biggest games against Texas that I can remember at Hilton.
Everyone in the place was jumping out of their seats at the time and it was that game that basically showed the country that we were a legit contender. The 2nd loudest time I can remember Hilton was the Iowa game that same season when we started off on some crazy run like 13-2 or something and Iowa calls a timeout to try and stop it. Mike Nurse had his hands over his ears as he was heading to the bench as it was so loud.

John Walters and Cyclone All American (x2) Gary Thompson.I didn't realize John Walters was doing the play by play on TV for that Texas game. I always see that highlight with Pete Taylor on the call. Pretty cool.
He and Gary Thompson used to do the "local" Big 12 TV broadcasts back then. Notice the ESPN + logo, that was basically their brand for local/regional Big 12 broadcasts at the time so instead of a national pair doing the call you got the home team's announcers.I didn't realize John Walters was doing the play by play on TV for that Texas game. There are a lot of point guards who are lucky to ever get one 10 (or more) assist game in their careers. Monte had 15 of them at Iowa State. He had another 11 games with 9 assists too so it wasn't some kind of fluke when he got to 10. He was regularly in that neighborhood.Every time I see Monte's ISU highlights, I just can't believe how easy everything looked for him. The guy was always two steps ahead of everyone else on the floor.
On this day in Cyclone sports history, March 2nd, 2015:
That might not have been the loudest single moment inside Hilton that I’ve seen, but the duration of the loudness and energy of the crowd throughout the second half of that game was spectacular.
Wish we could have that broadcast now.He and Gary Thompson used to do the "local" Big 12 TV broadcasts back then. Notice the ESPN + logo, that was basically their brand for local/regional Big 12 broadcasts at the time so instead of a national pair doing the call you got the home team's announcers.
