Yes, times have changed, but not to the point where negligence has to allow any kid in jeopardy. What's more, all public school employees are Mandatory Reporters. It is their job to note & report any evidence of abuse, and not just that of a sexual nature. And let's not fall back on that old chestnut that good help is hard to find. That's codswallop.
Anytime there is an accident like this, there should be a paper trial. But that is only if the bus driver know something had happened on the bus. If he is informed afterward, I am sure they had to write something up, stating what they saw or did.
Mandatory reporter sounds good on paper, but in fact, really does not come into play that often in cases like this. You would have to prove that the driver knew it occurred or witnessed it, and did nothing about it. Without the recording it becomes a he said, she said type of deal and gets nowhere.

Oh, I had a couple bus drivers that managed to do all of that. You didn't dare step out of line with those two guys.

This is another case of people (in this case a kid) in society being to comfortable thinking they can do whatever they want without consequence. Maybe you get word of this situation to some upstanding high school

UPDATE: the superintendent just confirmed to us that the 16 year old who hurt my son will not be riding the same bus as my son and the other daycare kids to and from daycare.

BUT....When pressed on the safety concern of him potentially harming other children on a different bus, he declined to comment other than to say it is this kid's right to have transportation. He wouldn't even tell me us who will be driving the daycare bus.

Because "the bus routes aren't finished yet."
You have to understand the law doesn't allow him to tell you anything about the other kid in this incident. He talks to you about your child and his safety. Glad you got some positive news in this.

Ya assaults happened back in April. My son's was on the bus. the subsequent assault on the girl, who is closer to the perp's age, occured at the actual school.

For those curious about that one, allegedly he shoved her over some type of railing and she sustained some type of serious head injury. I don't know the extent to which he is being punished for the 2nd assault or the specifics, like a judicial timeline. Only that he is being charged for that one. The school and the police don't really say much due to juvenile offenses being afforded more privacy. But it's a small town. Everyone knows about both incidents.
This kid needs to be put in prison now. I could care less he is only 16. This punk is going to kill someone. Prison or is Dexter available? Just saying

MMSD.

They only make direct, concise corrections when something goes to the local media.

And any of the stories that reach the news are just another day/week for many teachers.

I've heard stories. And the last comms guy bullied the nbc news reporter. He seemed like a real pos. Hope the new super can be better.

I didn't read the first 8 pages of this thread, but the only acceptable answer is to beat the **** out of the 16 year olds dad. Eye for an eye. After you are done if he threatens to sue or get police involved for getting his ass kicked, threaten to sue for medical expenses for your son's medical care. /thread

And when this doesn't work out?

So to be clear, you’d be fine if a bullly
broke your kids arm because medical expenses are next to nothing.
Nope, but I’m not landing myslef in jail retaliating 4 months later. Pretty sure his kid who is perfectly fine would have his life up ended quite a bit if his dad coped an aggravated assault charge and spent some time in jail and possibly lose a job. Doesn’t sound like a great family moment there or sounds like it helps anyone.

Schools do not like to expel a student as it makes them look bad.

How would expelling this kid make them look bad? Who would have a problem with it?

I think schools should have to put up with a lot trying to educate kids but it ends at violence. Nobody should have to deal with violence or live in fear of it.

His son seems to be dealing okay with it. There might be kids who witnessed it that are effed up by it. We just don’t know.

Not exactly sure.
Also it’s a broken arm that healed perfectly in less then two months so the medical expenses are next to nothing
ER, 2-3 dr visits, 1-2 casts……..probably 2k-2500 I would guess. To some of us, that’s not next to nothing. I didn’t even factor in any PT which seems to be common now for everything. That’s be 200-350/ visit.
