Also it's sickening that they can show people jumping out of windows on the History Channel. I mean, I saw it live...I dont really need to see it again.

i was in 7th grade at the time and i remember all the teachers having no idea what to do. we ended up watching coverage of it all day

I think I was in Soc134. Lecture hall in Curtis I think when our instructor told us - headed over to the MU to watch live coverage

I was flying a sortie during Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB when we got a call midair that we had to land immediately with no reasoning behind it. While we were flying back to base we found out that it was a mass recall of all planes stationed at the base, and some military planes that were just in the general area. It wasn't until we landed and walked back into our flight room that we found out what had happened.

Fast forward that to 2003 and I am now flying combat sorties over Iraq. Crazy how one event in time can change the whole course of action for a country.

I was in Spanish class in High school. The whole school came to a stand still and was glued to the TV's.

I was stuck working at a crappy auto parts store while I was going to ISU. No TV's, so we were listening to the coverage on the radio. All the radio stations were carrying national news coverage, even all the FM stations. I was calling friends and waking them up, asking them to turn on their TVs and tell me what they were seeing. I was stuck there until 2pm, went home as fast as I could and was just dumbfounded when I started watching the coverage.

What type of aircraft were you flying over there? I've always been fascinated by our air combat prowess. Just made it over to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton this summer. Spent the entire day there, so much to see and learn.

I was in 4th grade. My teacher and a kid in my class were getting some stuff out of her car and for whatever reason they had the radio on. The kid came running into the classroom and yelled "the world trade center got hit by a plane!"

It's crazy to think how vividly I remember something that happened 9 years ago.

Classes at ISU continued as schedule that day. I had an audit class that morning, and while everyone on Cy-Ride on the way to campus was fully aware of what was going on, i swear that the professor had no clue, or if he did, it was business as usual for him regardless.

As for where I was that morning, I was up early enough that I spent about 30 minutes watching Sportscenter, and they hadn't interrupted coverage yet. A friend of mine called me and asked me if I was watching the news and gave a brief overview of what had happened, which at the time was just the first plane crashing. I didn't rush to switch the channel until about a minute into our chat when he used a few choice words as the 2nd plane made impact.

Found out about it during homeroom my junior year of high school (we had homeroom between 2nd and 3rd period for some reason). They had the TV on in the computer lab I walked past going to my physics class and I saw the second tower collapse. Spent most of the rest of the day watching coverage on TV despite the school administration telling the teachers not to watch it as it might be 'upsetting' to us. I think we were more upset about not knowing what was going on than being upset by the events.

It's amazing how much detail I can remember about that day.

i was in 3rd grade at the time and we were coming back from art class my home room teacher had a t.v in her room and was just looking at the tv in awe i came in and didn't know what was going on til i saw the 2nd plane crash into it... then i knew it was serious when she just started crying. i knew right then and there we were at war and my cousin would be going away for a while. he was in the air force flying tankers to refuel all the fighters... still to this day i will never forget what happened to america and how it changed the way we live... really sad.

I was in english when it happened. We had block periods that day. I remember the principle announcing something was happening and to leave the TVs off. My teacher kept it on though. He figured we were in high school and that with something so...I don't even know the right word...big, terrible, momentous?... happening, we needed to see it and talk about it.



Sousa, I know what you mean. Most of the rest of high school sort of blurs together, but I remember so much about that day.

I was in the hospital celebrating the birth of my daughter. She was born the night before at 8:34 pm. I still am and will forever will be thankful that she was born 3 hours and 24 minutes before midnight.

I was in a line at an office in Beardsher Hall to clear up something with my U-bill or financial aid - it came on a radio someone had on in the background.

I think i had 2 classes after that - one went on as usual, the other the prof told us we'd never forget this day and sent us one our way.

I was in middle school, had the worst migraine of my short life. Nothing could clear it up, and I hadn't had one this bad ever in my short life. My mom woke me up saying that there was an accident in NY with airplaines flying into a building. Excrutiating pain in my head though, I remember that much.

I had a delivery job back then.
I was listening to the JOC 106.9 (or w/e) pulling into the Burger King (across from the Fair Grounds) ...and I'll never forget hearing Marty Terrell... "What's that Strini...(as in Ric Silvestrini) ...got some breaking news there?"
The JOC was quiet for about 7 or 8 seconds. And you could tell they were watching it on the TV. Ken Miller was like... "oh, it looks like someone flew their plane accidentally into the World Trade Center." (sounding like it had to be an accident) Then when I got back to work, we all found out that there was another plane that crashed into the Pentagon. That's when we knew it was going down!

(edit)...My daughter flew to NY today, and told me in a later text that if there was ever a day to travel (especially) to NY, this was it! She said everyone was searched even coming off the plane. (metal detectors, and carry on)

I was in between Des Moines and Carroll heading to the Pella plant for work. Listened to the guys on sports radio until ABC news coverage took over. Wandered around the plant for most of the day watching coverage on PC's and listening on the radio.
