As a Dish Network customer I have to believe they will stick it out and push the FCC to consider BTN a RSN.

I currently have the Sports Package and pay $4.99 or $5.99 a month. If they were to raise it by $1.10 per month to add the BTN, out of the principle I would cancel the sports package during football season. I mainly get it to watch the Twins on FSN anyway.

If Dish gets their way with the FCC on the ruling, it will be in the $0.10 price range per month and the BTN will have to cave to Mediacom and Comcast. I believe this will happen and the BTN is not going to deliver the cash they promised to the Universities.

If adding the Big Ten Network adds a buck or two to my elderly parents' cable bill, they will probably give up on cable and go back to antenna. They are at the break-even point on cost vs. entertainment. I am betting a lot of other older folks are also in this position. Cable is being priced out of older households because of pressure from basic cable service networks.

If the Big Ten Network is included in a sports pack on cable for 4 or 5 or 6 bucks a month, I'll probably add the Sports Pack and pay for it.

I want to see the football... even if it is Northwestern vs. Illinois. I also want my parents to have access to Discovery, History, and ESPN.

I want what's best for me and my parents. SELL me the Big Ten Network and don't slam it on my fixed income parents. Please don't pretend it is a "basic" cable service.

I'm not a big Mediacom fan, but in my mind they have the high ground in this business arguement.

Hawk fans and football fans in general will buy a sports pack - no problem. To demand the B1011 channel be a basic service is stupid.

When the Big 12 comes out with their own network, we'll be a lot more concerned with how this went down.

And just think of the outcry from Squawk fans if the B12 were to insist that their network be put on the basic channel tier. It'd be far worse than it is right now!

Giving subscribers the option to pay additional for the network on the sports tier is the logical solution. B10 needs to stop fighting it because they're only looking like arrogant pr*cks at this point.
