I still don't get the love for watching uni. It's by far the worst game on the schedule even if uni has a good team.

I realize you may get some uni fans to ames. It's not my top 5 game. I would switch that for osu in a heartbeat

OSU? As in Ohio state? I'd prefer to watch a game we don't lose 63-10.

I think you just answered your own question, you don't understand the motivations people have for buying tickets. I don't either but that UNI game isn't a mystery.

I think he was talking about switching the UNI ticket in the mini-pack for an Oklahoma State ticket. I always use OkSt to avoid the OSU confusion. :)

I believe the UNI game has routinely been one of the largest attended games in JTS history. How do you not get that?

Personally, not a huge attraction to me this year as family usually has plans over Labor Day, but I will not be surprised if it is not a near sell out.

The UNI game is better attended (therefore higher demand for tickets and $$) is because it lands on Labor Day, so out-of-staters like myself can make it to Ames more easily to the game, in addition to it being the biggest game of the year for UNI. They bring a lot of fans to the game.

...:spinny:

But many on here try and try again to refer to Iowa as "little brother", no matter how obsessed they may be with trying to one-up "little brother" in any manner possible just as you are.

The 'little brother' moniker was one used for years by Iowa fans (after the breakout from 20 consecutive losing seasons). Now that that the Hawkeyes are simply average, it's amusing that Hawk fans now feel like ISU is trying to take claim for the very tired 'big brother' status. Even though Iowa State is now expected to beat Iowa, we would trade it for winning Big 12 seasons.

Considering okie state is the only OSU in our conference, or on our schedule, I'm not sure why there would ever be confusion.....

My goodness. Oklahoma state maybe?

LOL

I've actually been known to have conversations with people who are fans of teams outside of our conference. Crazy, but true.

I'd serioulsy consider that, honestly. I don't really care about UNI at all (I'd be rooting for ISU in that one), but going to the Cy-Hawk game and then getting to see TCU play in person, plus a throw-in game against UNI, is an absolute steal at $99.

Wreaks of desperation, but I'd happily pounce on that.

LOL. How are the 3 game mini-packs selling Mr. Hawkeye? Are you offering free tuition with those packages or just free concessions?

Iowa doesn't have to do mini packs just like they don't have to offer "Community Day" ticket discounts...

That is one hell of a mini pack. Not a crap game in there.

Mini-pak is a good deal. I bought 3.

I suspect one factor in offering them is for ISU to hopefully insure at least one sellout before the season goes south. This for the purpose of photo-ops of the new JTS in all its Loyal Son glory - to use for recruiting, calendars, marketing etc.

Somewhere above a poster stated the clones would be favored. My recollection is that Iowa is currently a 4 or 4.5 point favorite despite ISU having won recent very close games, despite the game being in Ames, despite Iowa/Ferentz no longer being highly regarded, and despite all those stud jucos ISU now thrives on.

Reeks, not wreaks.

At first I kind of agreed, but given how popular it evidently was I wonder if it actually did a great job of turning people who buy single game ticket halfway into being season ticket holders. Given that I think it was a pretty smart move by the AD to sell a bunch of tickets and gain at least a few long term ticket buyers from people who enjoy themselves and decide to get full season tickets next year.

I am still wondering how much Iowa is paying the company that's calling all these businesses offering discounted tickets.

Say it ain't so.

Reeks, not wreaks.
