I'm not really buying into the "far reaching" consequences of this email. Taken by itself, this guy got what he deserves for being a whiny turd.

The rest of Cyclone Nation will move on as it has. Anyone who's buying tickets is supporting the program. I won't fault anyone for deciding it's not worth the money, but it's funny that someone writes a personal letter to Pollard blasting him, his coaching staffs, former players, etc, yet somehow still feels entitled to a polite response. F him. He got a G rated reply if you ask me.

To everyone who did not catch it on the air I would like to clarify anything thats been said:
First of all, i have not donated any money because I am a 20 year old kid. I have bought clothing, food at the games, and programs and all sorts of other merchandise. I have been to many, many games, I know i said id probably been to 15-20 games at least in football, and countless basketball games. I watch every game I can on tv from up here in Wisconsin. All i wanted to do was express my frustration with the person in charge. I am a die hard fan, all I wanted to do was express my opinion about whats going on. I have been taught from a young age, if you don't like something, do something about it. I dont like whats going on, so I tried to do something about it. So, I did something, I wrote a letter. I did not intend to make this an issue past me and Mr. Pollard. Until I got that response. I may never have enough money to donate to the program. So does that not make me a fan ever? I only wished to publicize this after his response.
I will say it one more time, I WAS NOT SEEKING PUBLICITY, I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A WAR. ALL I WANTED WAS FOR MY THOUGHTS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. And I got a response that essentially said I am not a fan because I have not directly sent a check to his fund raising. I just dont think thats right.

Learn how to confront an issue like an adult instead of a whiny 2yr old and you might find you get more "traction" from the responding party.

You did the right thing, and I assure you, you aren't the only one who has similar feelings. On behalf of some fans who are trying to portray you as the bad guy, I would like to apologize for their behavior. Don't be afraid to continue to speak out fro something you believe in. When Mr. Pollard is long gone, you'll still be a true Cyclone fan, contrary to what Mr. Pollard believes. He's just a hired hand.

If JP wants to conduct a focus group, he'll have the marketing department or ticket office do it. JP's response doesn't change my opinion about him and I think he's a great AD. Probably shouldn't have responded the way he did, but I find it hard that a 20 YEAR OLD KID can reminisce about the good ol' days of Hoiberg, Grayer, Hornacek and Stevens. Doesn't that seem a little strange to anyone.

Hell, I'm 25 and I'll fully admit that I was too young to really remember most of those guys and even fully appreciate the efforts of Hoiberg.

Yep, that's another way of doing it (focus groups), although those cost money. Considering what season ticket holders are really like, I would be a little dubious about the opinions presented in a focus group. I don't know though, it's just my stupid unfounded opinion though.

Also, it doesn't seem strange to me. I don't think it came out correct. Point being is we went from the "good ol days" to whatever we are now..a program which the common person doesn't recognize and can't seem to win against good competition on a consistent basis.

Anyway, case being as someone said before..he's the face of the program. Represent it well. He should hopefully be aware that any email sent on ISU servers is technically in the public domain.

And considering you weren't alive or even old enough to cite better times in the program (the Orr and even Floyd eras), what exactly do you think your limited perspective on the matter is going to bring to the table that JP doesn't already know?

I was born in 1984 and I have no problem admitting I was too young to really appreciate guys like Stevens, Grayer, Hornacek, Alexander, etc.

Bravo, this program is not about JP. It is about me and you and all of the others on this board. sometimes I think that people in these positions need to think about these things.

Look, I respect you for owning up to this and going on the show and now getting on CF, but if you're going to criticize the way JP responded to you, I think you also need to realize that your email carried nothing of substance including no solutions to the problems other than getting rid of Mcd.

Furthermore, what did you want JP so say to you? "You know Matt, you're right, but we're financially strapped so we have to ride this flaming turd for another season or two. Can I count on you to still come to football games though?"
