There is no place in the email that Jamie says the kid is not a fan.

In fact, he says, "Glad to know that your feelings are not shared by the majority of other Cyclone fans." Other fans means he acknowledges that Matt is a fan. He thanks him for his email (twice), appreciates his passion and invites him to join the Cyclone Club.

He is not trying to run the guy off, but rather inviting him to become more active.

The embarrassing part of the original email is Matt's threat to start withholding something he has never given. I have no problem with Jamie calling him on this.

This. I wish Matt or Ken would read this. But instead, they just spout off just like Marty and Ken did. Matt is picking up right where Marty left off. Good luck with that in the ratings department.

No where...Matt & Miller made it up. They have the awesome shock jock power to interpret anything they read. JP was pointing out that the kid lied in his email, what is wrong with that?

So the people using the "not a fan" straw man bought it hook line and sinker off of Matt & Miller. I think we know why mr89ia sent the email. He got smacked by JP and had his feelings hurt, so decided to try and embarass JP.

It's poetic justice that he expected to remain anonymous, but was outed by the idiots he went to for help.

This whole thing would have been a lot less of a deal if Matt and Miller did not say the email said something it did not. The response was in an effort to make you think about what you were doing. You sent a pretty hostile e-mail to an AD. An AD you have given no money to. He did not say you were not a fan. He simply said there were a lot more constructive ways to support the program than to write an email in the fashion you did. Had you been polite he would have been more polite. Instead you wrote that with an attitude. What did you expect from it? Again, he did not say you were not a fan because you don't donate. He said there were other avenues to better the program. You also gave him an ultimatum. You said as long as Mac is here you will not donate. Ok, well Mac is going to be here so you aren't donating. Are you not doing the same thing as he would be had he said he would not listen to you if you do not donate? If you don't donate, he shrugs your opinion off, if he doesn't make a change you don't donate. That sound like the same type of a deal to me.

You say that you didn't want this attention? Please. You sent this to a sports talk radio show. One that is listened to by quite a few people. Did you expect a private e-mail back from Deace and Miller giving their opinion? Come on, you knew what you were doing when you sent that. I could see where you didn't know where it would lead but you knew it would be public.

Pollard handled this poorly, however he did not say what Matt continues to insist he said. He did not say this kid was not a fan. Nowhere does it say that.

mr89ia-I will give you a pass on this for the most part. I don't think you knew all that would come of this. Matt Perrault blew this completely out of proportion and inserted his own meaning into Pollards email. I hope you can read through the email and see that.

I also find it funny that sportstalkmatt is on Twitter telling CF "you're welcome" for starting a 30-page crapstorm here. Shouldn't he be thanking CF for material and listeners?

Who cares if you dont purchase tickets? I buy tickets to the womens bball games, do you? If not you are not a fan, thats what JP is saying.

Do you understand English?

He never ONCE said he wasn't a fan. Not ONCE!

He did say as a fan, the best way to get his voice heard is to join the Cyclone Club, buy season tickets, etc.

Don't make things up.

To everyone who did not catch it on the air I would like to clarify anything thats been said:
First of all, i have not donated any money because I am a 20 year old kid. I have bought clothing, food at the games, and programs and all sorts of other merchandise. I have been to many, many games, I know i said id probably been to 15-20 games at least in football, and countless basketball games. I watch every game I can on tv from up here in Wisconsin. All i wanted to do was express my frustration with the person in charge. I am a die hard fan, all I wanted to do was express my opinion about whats going on. I have been taught from a young age, if you don't like something, do something about it. I dont like whats going on, so I tried to do something about it. So, I did something, I wrote a letter. I did not intend to make this an issue past me and Mr. Pollard. Until I got that response. I may never have enough money to donate to the program. So does that not make me a fan ever? I only wished to publicize this after his response.
I will say it one more time, I WAS NOT SEEKING PUBLICITY, I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A WAR. ALL I WANTED WAS FOR MY THOUGHTS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. And I got a response that essentially said I am not a fan because I have not directly sent a check to his fund raising. I just dont think thats right.

I had to learn the hard way about emails. I got burned once for forwarding a controversial email at work. Taught me to think twice, thrice before sending an email, esp. one that includes any emotion or ultamatums. By putting it in writing your thoughts and opinions, as you now know, opens you up for dissection.

I recommend in the future if you want to send an email on such a subject leave names out of it, esp. players. The tone of your email was emotional and threatening. Why not just say in a polite way that you will no longer be following the program if a change in leadership is not made. If Pollard responds to you in the same manner you still come out on top as your point was made and he still comes across as a jerk (which he does in his current response).

You did the right thing, and I assure you, you aren't the only one who has similar feelings. On behalf of some fans who are trying to portray you as the bad guy, I would like to apologize for their behavior. Don't be afraid to continue to speak out fro something you believe in. When Mr. Pollard is long gone, you'll still be a true Cyclone fan, contrary to what Mr. Pollard believes. He's just a hired hand.

Please reread the original email. I have a hard time agreeing with you that he did the right thing. If he expressed his frustration with respect, I could agree. His initial email was inflamatory, rude and in no way constructive.

That does not excuse the response, but it certainly wasn't the right thing.

If that's true, I find Matt's ego hilarious. He didn't bring jack **** to CF. CF would have been just as active if he didn't post that stuff.

He should thank Miller and Deace for doing his job for him and then CF for giving them 3 hours worth of material.

And it only took, what, 6 months for Matt to turn into Marty Tirrell? Good luck with that Matt.

Out of the entire email I bet this is what set Pollard off the most:

"not only should Greg McDermott be worried about his job, but you too, Mr. Pollard"

how in the world do you consider him a victim? He's not a victim at all. He's an attention *****.

This. 100% correct. Pollard craves attention. He wants to be front and center, but when things get tough, he lashes out and gets defensive.

No kidding.. how could he expect to get any traction when he ends his email with that.

Yes, I can read, and I'm telling you that JP has no way of knowing the bold part of the statement. Are you telling me that if I walk up to Hilton, for example, the night of a game, and put down cash at the ticket window for a ticket, or a friend of mine takes my money up to the window to buy our tickets, that the ticket seller gets the names of everyone in our party? Come on......you know that is not true. Yes, he had not bought a season ticket, and was not a donor.......but there is no way JP knows that he had never bought a single game ticket. That is bs.

I also don't believe that out of all the e-mails that JP got after the McDermott announcement that this was the only negative ones, but then maybe that is just be, and that is a whole other issue.

Purchasing a ticket from someone who already purchased a ticket isn't really buying a ticket. So Pollard calling you out for lying in your email was deserved in my opinion.

Your email was hostile...so you shouldn't be surprised when you get something like that back. My guess is if you handled your interaction with the head of the athletic department with a little more class, you would have received a much different response back. But you didn't. So no offense, but you deserved what you got.

And who cares if it does the man we have running our athletic dept is known as a jack***, he has built our facilities but look at the coaches (save CPR) he has brought in and who has stayed. Him and Mac have alot in common they cant keep talent.

I don't have a strong feeling of JP either way. But his response to a bratty, whiny complaint is fine with me.

Why wouldn't you buy tickets through the athletic department? I realize many don't, but I want to know why you never did.
