Even at butler, he's only a few down years away from the axe. The natives *always* get restless.

At a bigger name school he can get a contract that will pay much more, and have guaranteed money in the contract so that even if it doesnt work out, he still makes a ******** more money. And he can always go back down to the 'less headaches' mid-majors.

i agree, but Stevens is a different sort of cat by most accounts. Who knows, maybe he will jump at the money. But you would have thought that after getting to the title game last year too and yet, at Butler he remains. It would not shock me in the slightest to see him remain there. He's young, too, only 34. He's still got a ton of time to make his mark.

How are people saying Mike Anderson is not a great coach? Six Tournament appearances, he's done it at with a mid major and a major school, this doesn't make you great? What the guy gotta do? Name me a coach that has been to the tourney 6 times that makes under 2 million year...Pretty sure he's the only one.

A lot of people in KC have said they are OK with Anderson leaving because they don't believe he can get them any higher then what they are at now. Their only worry is he will take the younger Pressey with him.

How quickly they forget the Quinn Snyder era...

Reminds me a little of Hawk fans and Tom Davis. A coach who can consistently get his team to qualify for the NCAA tournament is not so easily replaced.

SO GLAD he is gone! I understand that he may not have racked up the W's in conference play but his style of play is what I will not miss. His style of play has sure killed us over the last 3 years. And Missouri is great at home with him as coach so as long as they dont get a guy like coach K or Roy Williams I am fine with this.

Cyclone Teams were 2-8 against Mike Anderson while he was at Missouri. I am glad he is gone and hope we have better luck against the next coach. Go Cyclones!!!

I think he'll stick around, but next year will be a huge year for him, he'll have to almost completely restocked the shelf from his finals team. It will be interesting to see if turns out to be Mark Few or Chris Lowrey. Butler has a long list of coaches who won there but couldn't hack it at power conference schools.

I always thought that Mike Anderson's success at Mizzou was partially due to Melvin Watkins taking an assistant job there. Watkin did a fair job at Texas AM, getting Law there.

The same Melvin Watkins that coached A&M to an 0-16 conference record?

Thad Matta disagrees with you.

Not really that long of a list. In the modern era, you're basically talking about Matta, Collier, and Lick. 2 of those crashed and burned epically, but Matta is doing just fine.

Glad we have our coach in place after all the changes in the Big 12. Last year was a good year to make a change. Thanks again Creighton.

Yup. I thought he was quite the recruiter. He did have something like 8 top 100 recruits to Texas AM. I know they were terrible in the years before him.

BG took over his players and put together a nice run. Law, Pompey, Wright.

Yea I looked him up. Sounds like he is quite the recruiter and probably helped Mike Anderson out a lot with all of the good recruits, but its unbelievable that he had that much talent his last season at A&M and did that poor. What an awful coach!

I don't see any reason to get too excited over this. Anderson has done a good job at Miz, but he isn't a great coach. Miz has the resources as the only major-conference school in the state to be a lot better than they have been. They can do a lot better than Mike Anderson. That said, they could do a lot worse as well.

How quickly memories fade....dude took them to the Elite Eight two seasons ago.

The coach from Butler is going to be even a hotter coach after taking his team to the Sweet-16 again this year. Now we have places like MU and Tenn without coaches. Who's going to kick out the big $$ for him?
