That was a good nugget to dig up. I seem to remember that’s how it went down.
Rural Iowa might as well be Estes Park compared to Nebraska west of Lincoln. All of those little rectangle ponds by the interstate they call lakes. LOL!!!!!
If you don’t mind the 6 hour drive. Scottsbluff has some nice golf. Far western Nebraska is more beautiful than all of Iowa. It’s just so far out there.
I've been to far western Nebraska. Strongly disagree.
Definitely not on I 80. Don't know about the northwest corner. That leaves a lot of Nebraska being a wasteland.
Take the cutoff to the Royal Gorge. Kearney, Limon Colorado route. Did it last week out and back. There is over an hour with no public restrooms on the road. Desolate, I am a big fan of Native American History 1500 to 1900. I ran out of imagination. They were already chopping what I think was dryland corn 3' tall. And in my opinion too dry to chop.
Nebraska National Forest south of Chadron is a pretty scenic drive and Toadstool Geologic Park is a great hike as well. Anyone saying Nebraska is flat and boring needs to get off of I-80.

I’ve driven a lot for my work. Give me western Nebraska any day before places like Mississippi, or Alabama. At least in Nebraska you can see for a long ways unlike in Dixie where it’s just constant trees right next to the road.
I particularly find an argument between Nebraska and Iowa funny on this. Neither are really anywhere near the top when it comes to natural beauty.
