Mrs. SLCyclone and i were in Cabo in February. We too stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset. It is a $12 taxi ride to downtown and the marina. This is a beautiful resort. The skyview pool is awesome. Plan on spending four hours a day there. There are many good places to eat in the downtown/marina area. It is completely safe. We liked it much better than Cancun. We are in our fifties so our tastes might be different than yours, but we would highly recommend Cabo.

We stayed at the Riu at Cabo. Nice place. Enjoyed our time there. Deep see fishing was excellent.

I will still take Jamacia any day of the week.

TripAdvisor is a great way to research.

Word to the wise; DO NOT leave the airport with just any taxi driver. Make reservations ahead of time, and make sure you get with that taxi service. Cabo is known for their time share pitches; they pay taxi cab drivers to pick up randoms from the airport and drive you to their time share resort to sit through a 6 hr time share schpeel.

If you can sit there that long and are looking for a free round of golf, be my guest. But most people dont want to spend 6 hours in paradise, trapped inside a conference room.

Also, we preferred San Jose to Cabo. Less people and less tourist trappy than Cabo. Lots of $1 beer and $1 taco bars in San Jose. We rented a Jeep and drove between them both though, but watch out while driving down there. It isn't for the faint of heart. Stop at the Wal Mart on the way to your hotel to buy supplies like sunscreen, snacks, water and beer. Even if you are at an all-inclusive you will want some extra snacks and water. It's also fun to go to Wal Mart in Mexico, even though I hate it here and rarely go.

If you have money to burn, stop buy Las Ventanas resort for a meal. They will let you in to eat and it is one of, if not the nicest (most expensive) resort in Cabo. This is a favorite resort of stars and has hosted Clooney, Aniston, Bieber, Seacrest and tons of others. As mentioned though, prices are no joke, but you will certainly do better with lunch than dinner.

Sorry for the bump. Going in September. Never been to Mexico. Staying at the Riu for 4 nights. Any suggestions? I love fishing. The wife and I both like experiencing the food, culture and national parks/natural scenery. We plan on doing a scuba/snorkel trip. I am also looking for currency suggestions. Do they accept American dollars and would it be best to exchange it or keep it USD? Thanks all and I also appreciate the previous comments. Sounds like Cabo Wabo, Edith’s, and Gordo Leles are must do’s?
