We played hard, just didn’t win. But nobody can honestly say that the last three minutes was Missouri outplaying us, it was a lack of execution by us that lost. Part of that is coaching, but another part is just talent.

Scotty shouldn't have the authority to dribble penetrate as much as he did in the last 10 minutes. That's my one and only complaint. That's not his game at all and more negative comes from it than positive. #shrug

Agreed with that. It wasnt working all day.

I think we will know if Haith is as good a coach as the respect he is getting next year when all these seniors are gone, and he is playing in the SUC conferance. If he gets 2nd in that league than ya he is coach of the year talent.

If it was constructive, we acknowledge it. Your only point was "Fred failed." Explain how, otherwise it looks like trolling.

Did you read? Said Royce was getting it done for us all night. Then we went to Scotty. Why? And he drives in the lane 3 times no foul he just loses the ball and throws his arms up at the refs. Come on.

Eh...he probably should have called a timeout before that breakaway dunk that put them up 7 cause we really needed a good shot. Scotty had a rough patch but he was driving trying to pick up a couple fouls, if he gets two fouls called we win the game cause he makes all the free throws. I thought Fred out coached Haith for most of the game actually.

Yeah, we went away from Royce too much, but Scotty has been hot too. Not worried about it.

This was really irritating me and the fact that we didnt even royce touches the last 10 mins. When its go time, royce needs to look to score. The rest of the game is fine but in the clutch he needs to be the guy.

Scotty is a catch and release type guy. Anything else and he is a liability. Not saying he shouldn’t drive because he has improved greatly, but he needs to make better decisions on the court. I watched the KSU after the game interview with Scotty. Said seniors are supposed to step up and thats what I did. I think he tried to do to much

See this is why the cyclones have done so poor in the past. You guys are satisfied with this loss just because it is 'a top ten team". It is time for a change in the cyclone fan-base.Im not saying we have to win every-game. When we lead most the game and should win, you guys are satisfied because its always been "the cyclone way".

So, you would prefer the Cyclone fans freak out on the coach. I just want to make sure I am meeting your expectations.

We lost the game. It was a close game. I'm not happy about it. I'm also not looking for someone to blame. Some things just don't go our way, whether it be shots, fouls, turnovers, or any other thing. It's ok. You figure out how to fix it and try again.

I feel like I'm talking to my children.

You just say "Nope'. Prove me wrong. Teach me something ISUAgronomist. Everyone praises you on this site and i just don't see it. You are nothing special you are a hack.

No no no. You're DOING IT ALL WRONG. This is how you behave on your first day in prison, not within your first 150 posts on CF. Picking a fight with the "toughest guy in the yard" doesn't impress people as much on a sports message board as it does in a correctional facility, or so I've been told.

And did it get away from us at the end? Yeah. But Fred's "bad coaching" also gave us the edge for 30 minutes, and kept us in the game for another 7 minutes or so. Mizzou won down the stretch on Senior Night, with a team ranked #8.

If you think that Fred isn't aware of his own mistakes and that he needs YOU to point it out to him? Then maybe you haven't been paying attention. Fred is a pretty good coach, especially for a guy who hasn't coached 70 games TOTAL at any level yet. We're still on the upslope of the potential curve.

I don't think its fair to label him just a catch and release guy. I think he has shown that he can be more than that. I would agree that he was trying too hard tonight.

This is a place to vent, not to cry. He makes some good points though. Can’t argue about the late game coaching. At least this thread wasn’t called Fire Fred

I totally agree with this. If we had a point guard scotty would just be a spot up shooter. Hes asked to do to much this year out of need. BUT he is doing an alrite job but tonight wasnt his night

I thought Hoiberg should have gotten a technical called anywhere from the 8 to 5 minute mark in order to fire up the team and straighten out the refs.

Didn't happen. Tim Floyd and Johnny Orr knew when to get T's.

I was kinda waiting/hoping for this to happen, but Fred has gotten us this far so I can't complain much.

Late in the game? He was awful the entire 2nd half.

I thought the whole reason coaches sat on the sideline to begin with was to influence the outcome of the game when possible. While the players need to ultimately win the game, it is the coaches job to try to coral momentum, enforce maintentance of proper fundamentals, and make heady substitutions, sometimes in order to send a message. In tonight's game we saw none of the above. In the first half our defense was coming up WITH the screener, taking away the drive, and making switches (sometimes doubles). That completely dissolved in the 2nd half and I saw no evidence Hoiberg made any attempt to address it. I find that completely inexcusable.

I also didn't like the fact that he didn't corral Scotty, and to a lesser extent Royce in the 2nd half. When you aren't getting any calls (which was ridiculous but that's another issue) you can't RECKLESSLY drive the lane. Seriously, how many horrendous lane shots, bad passes, and outright turnovers did he have because of this? I'm not even sure I can count that high. Royce also started getting reckless in trying to force too many passes instead of letting the game come to him.

The last 2 games have provided a lot of encouragement as we have played two halves, against two good teams, both on the road in which we played pretty good defense, had good offensive movement, and really got after the ball. It's also the 2nd straight game our coaching staff has failed to keep on our players enough to ATTEMPT (key word there) to do the things that got them the lead in the first place. That has to change.

If we clean up these issues, and they ARE correctable, we can be a tough out almost anywhere. Since I didn't bring it up before the officiating was abysmal. The charge on Royce, the non foul on the Ejim "travel", the call down low on Booker were just 3 of the ridiculous calls I saw in the 2nd half. Meanwhile we only had the benefit of 1-2 calls (Royce should have got called for one while Ratliff also got dinged for a minuscule touch foul in the 2nd). It really ****** me off that Christopherson was getting mauled, while Dixon and Pressey received every touch fould imaginable. Wiht that said our senior guard needed to recognize how the game was being called and make the adjustment. He didn't.
