I probably took the wrong approach in this thread. I wasn't meaning to bash on RollsRoyce and it kind of came off that way. My bad.

My main point is that the results of these games are based on the cumulative amount of plays from start to finish. Each possession on offense and defense is equally important when everything is said and done. A basket in the first 30 seconds of the game is worth just as money points as a basket in the final 30 seconds of the game. Last night was a great example.

ISU gave up a 7-0 run to start the game in the first 2:52. During that stretch ISU was 0-5 from the floor with 2 missed bunnies off of offensive rebounds and committed 2 turnovers.

Then with 3:53 left in the game ISU gave up a 7-0 run over the next 2:32 during which they went 0-3 from the floor and committed 2 turnovers.

So for nearly 35 minutes of play ISU had an 8 point advantage over Mizzou. It took a little over 5 minutes combined for Mizzou to outscore ISU 14-0 to erase 35 minutes of good basketball by the Clones. It is a real fine line when you are up against a top 10 team. That first 3 minutes was equally as devestating to ISU's chances of winning the game as that last 2.5 minute stretch was.

I agree with you on everything you said. You didn't come across as bashing RollsRoyce. It's hard not to respond in a negative way when somebody immediately begins criticizing the coaching and players after a loss against a top 10 team on the road on senior night. Then they go on to argue that we are not good fans because we "accept" this as it is the "Cyclone way".

The original criticism was that Fred is not a good end of game coach. Remember KSU? Fred drew up the play to Scotty to hit the winner at the buzzer. Remember KU? Fred called the play to Royce for the winner with 1 second left. That is pretty good end of game coaching.

Key stat:The Cyclones are the best team in all of college basketball in plays after timeouts, ranking first in points per play (1.14), adjusted field goal percentage (65.1) and scoring percentage (49.4). This was stolen by me from BryceC's thread-thanks Bryce.

RollsRoyce is entitled to his opinion, but that doesn't mean his opinion is right. He called out Fred's coaching and we've shown with real evidence that his opinion is ignorant.

GO CYCLONES!!!

Mizzou is a better team > ISU right now.

Senior laden team that knows how to get it done down the stretch.

Not sure how that translates into hammering the staff and team by the OP.

No, Mizzou just buckled down on D. Give them credit, they are very good. Not every game can be explained by coaching. We just aren't athletic enough in the backcourt to match up with a team like Mizzou at this point. Mizzou is probably the best example of how not having a PG can be a problem.

I posted the same concern re: Scotty playing PG vs. Missouri a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, we seem to have improved since he moved back to PG. Also, unfortunately, Allen seems to have regressed in his shot selection, i.e., like before Fred's "push."

I just wanted to chime in on the best CF thread in a while.

While I tend to agree somewhat with the OPs concerns, they should probably be read back to himself outloud, as to not get too many posters panties in a bunch. Some were a little harsh.

Also spread rep to idaho and zac. also 78 for a nice close.

Hindsite is always more clear.
