Anyone else disgusted with the officials?

I think there were certainly some terrible calls both ways. One thing I've noticed in general with college basketball is it seems all you have to do is go up for a shot and flail in the post to get a call anymore. Hell, that strategy is 2/3rds of Iowa's offense. I think the officials let too much go early, and then they were playing from behind the rest of the game. They benefited from a lot of calls down low, but I also think the officials were inconsistent on what was considered a handcheck as well. Overall, it was inconsistent, but that's to be expected against WVU.

The thing that gets me is when officials decide to call every touch foul on the perimeter or when a player drives but let's everyone maul each other in the paint.

Usually the touch fouls happen when the foul totals are not in balance. If the count ever gets to something like 7-2 or 9-3, I just wait for a couple quick phantom "hand checks/bumps" to be called on guys who haven't picked up a foul yet. The officials no doubt look at the individual foul counts and do their best to call these "even-them-up" fouls on guys who aren't in foul trouble yet or on bench players who they know won't have an effect on the game. It's an absolute joke but not much you can do when I guarantee they're being told to go out and do this crap.

To tuco's comments that their fans probably feel the same way. I read through their game thread and not one about bad calls (except at the end when they said they wanted a foul called but couldn't get one). There were a few like this though:

Seems they saw it like we did. Many also said it was lucky to be so close because we shot better and genearly played better and are a bad matchup for them as we are good at breaking pressure. So quite being a ******. It doesn't matter, we won and good teams find a way to win even when the calls don't go your way in a game and I care much more abut being that kind of team than the team a couple years ago that allowed bad calls to beat us. They happen love the grit of these guys like last year's team they are figuring out how to be winners.

Yep. Trollcoach is just a troll obsessed with Iowa State. ISU won a 5 on 8 game Saturday by being 10-15 points better than WVU on the road in order to barely get the win, we know that's what it takes even at home vs KU so it was a good test for our guys.

Well when we pay our officials the least out of the P5... We're going to have this problem.

And before anyone says basketball doesn't have specific conference officials. There are officials that call Big 12 games year after year after year, they're effectively the Big 12's officials. No need for that post, we all know.

If that's "hacked hard" then I can understand why you thought their were a million uncalled fouls. If they called every little contact like that a foul the game would take 4 hours and would have 10 players fouled out. At some point you have to just realize that basketball players will actually come in contact with one another and that if that contact doesn't actively prevent them from doing what they were doing then it's best if the refs didn't call it a foul.

Please. If McKay was wearing a KU uniform, that would have been a Flagrant 2.
