Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

I love that people keep throwing out there the "donors will pay for it" angle. We have some good donors but we don't have Texas donors who just throw money around. Look how hard it was to get funding for actual tangible projects like the South Endzone, the Bergstrom Facility and the New Performance Center. These were years in the making so I don't believe for one minute that "donors" will pony up millions for buyouts when they are reluctant to pony up millions for actual facilities that have been needed for a very long time.
Great point. I've thought similar....meaning, you pony up a couple mil for a buyout....you don't get a building named after you....and, if they are that wealthy AND care about basketball that much, likely would also be ok waiting a year vs make it happen now.

What about the skybridge over university blvd? Wasn't that a two donor, $10M project that came together in the blink of an eye?

Regardless, the buyout is net of his salary. And here you go thinking you know who’s standing behind Jamie with the money to do whatever they want. The numbers available to us are just the face of it.

Then we should assume that the money is already upfront for Prohm’s buyout. Prohm’s buyout has to be covered before you start talking about the buyout for Fred. And then add n Fred’s exorbitant salary on top of that.

you should stop saying this
You don’t like facts? If he’s not fired we’re paying him 2 million dollars. That’s a sunk cost so the “buyout” is net of that. We’re going to be out 3.3 million dollars by firing him.

I don’t know who’s paying for it. Neither does other posters on here. That’s the point. You can’t say this buyout is this much and that buyout is that much and then take it all at face value. We aren’t involved in the final calculations.

It’s not exorbitant if it leads to winning basketball and a packed Hilton. Campbell’s salary is certainly worth it many times over for what he brings to the University.

I have a $5000 loan on a car. $2000 is due next year. I'm going to give that car away because it's smells bad and no one will ride with me.
I'm going to get a different car for $2000 that doesn't smell and my friends will return.
I'm going to be out just $3000 by giving away the stinky car

There is no scenario where you don't pay a single coach salary next year. You pay a $5MM buyout or you don't. The salary is irrelevant.

I sure hope Prohm will be gone. I just have this horrible feeling Pollard will give him yet another year.....

I had that feeling, too, until we lost in the conference tournament first game. I think Pollard was just aching to find some kind of excuse to retain him, but losing that game took it all away. Pollard has peers, too, and there is no way he would be able to look them in the eyes at any kind of future event (like an NCAA tournament selection committee) if he retained a coach who went 0-19 in games against conference opponents.

This is just fan nervousness. Retaining a coach for one win in KC after 0-18 is a pretty tenuous justification.

Right.... because 1-19 would have been perfectly fine. It sounds like it's been pretty much decided for a few weeks that Prohm would not be around next season.

Do you think Prohm wants to come back? What would he do if the options were come back for 2021-22 after firing your staff, or leave for your new home in Kentucky with 80% pay?

Yeah that's just stupid. If I am the coach and you want to fire me, then fire me and pay my buyout. If you want me to get a new staff to keep my job I'd do that in a heart beat and continue collecting my salary.

I'd tell JP you have 2 options: 1) Fire me and pay my buyout or 2) Keep me and pay my salary.
