Great point. I've thought similar....meaning, you pony up a couple mil for a buyout....you don't get a building named after you....and, if they are that wealthy AND care about basketball that much, likely would also be ok waiting a year vs make it happen now.I love that people keep throwing out there the "donors will pay for it" angle. We have some good donors but we don't have Texas donors who just throw money around. Look how hard it was to get funding for actual tangible projects like the South Endzone, the Bergstrom Facility and the New Performance Center. These were years in the making so I don't believe for one minute that "donors" will pony up millions for buyouts when they are reluctant to pony up millions for actual facilities that have been needed for a very long time.
Mostly random. Insiders--Outsiders...you get it. Tough crowd. Tough crowd. That's completely random, but it brings back memories of seeing this in the theater.

Regardless, the buyout is net of his salary. And here you go thinking you know who’s standing behind Jamie with the money to do whatever they want. The numbers available to us are just the face of it.
You don’t like facts? If he’s not fired we’re paying him 2 million dollars. That’s a sunk cost so the “buyout” is net of that. We’re going to be out 3.3 million dollars by firing him.you should stop saying this
I don’t know who’s paying for it. Neither does other posters on here. That’s the point. You can’t say this buyout is this much and that buyout is that much and then take it all at face value. We aren’t involved in the final calculations.I love that people keep throwing out there the "donors will pay for it" angle. Then we should assume that the money is already upfront for Prohm’s buyout. Prohm’s buyout has to be covered before you start talking about the buyout for Fred. And then add n Fred’s exorbitant salary on top of that.

There is no scenario where you don't pay a single coach salary next year. You pay a $5MM buyout or you don't. The salary is irrelevant. You don’t like facts? I sure hope Prohm will be gone. I just have this horrible feeling Pollard will give him yet another year.....
Will he? Look, Prohm already killed Hilton Magic. One more season like this one, and Hilton Magic's funeral will need to be a closed casket affair. Then Campbell leaves. You alright with that?
I had that feeling, too, until we lost in the conference tournament first game. I think Pollard was just aching to find some kind of excuse to retain him, but losing that game took it all away. Pollard has peers, too, and there is no way he would be able to look them in the eyes at any kind of future event (like an NCAA tournament selection committee) if he retained a coach who went 0-19 in games against conference opponents.
That’s got nothing to do with Steve Prohm. There is no scenario where you don't pay a single coach salary next year. You pay a $5MM buyout or you don't. The salary is irrelevant.
Right.... because 1-19 would have been perfectly fine. It sounds like it's been pretty much decided for a few weeks that Prohm would not be around next season.I had that feeling, too, until we lost in the conference tournament first game. Do you think Prohm wants to come back? What would he do if the options were come back for 2021-22 after firing your staff, or leave for your new home in Kentucky with 80% pay?
Haha okay, well then what you're saying is completely irrelevant to the situation. That’s got nothing to do with Steve Prohm.
I prefer Rumble Fish, but The Outsiders is pretty good too.
It certainly does in relation to Prohm. The buyout is only the net of his salary. WHaha okay, well then what you're saying is completely irrelevant to the situation.
