I'm excited because I can't believe our offense could truly be that bad. Take away the turnovers and the game goes the other way IMO. Plenty to look forward to still and hoping for a great game. Haven't lost in Iowa City since 2010, cheers to keeping the streak alive!
Our offense has been that bad for years now.

I've already given up on the season. I'm sick of being lied to about how much the team is improving every summer. This feels like a one win team and Saturday night will be brutal. I hope to pass out before kickoff.
Who was lying? They were just talking about positive take aways that they have seen/had during camp all summer, because they are practicing and not playing, they can only be optimistic. What do you want Matt Campbell to say "yeah I took over this team and everyone here is not good enough to win more than 3 games this year, don't get your hopes up everybody." If you are "being lied to" it is because you take optimism as fact. Quit whining.

Agreed. Talk was mostly of improving every day and changing culture, bad habits. The only thing that built hype was recruits who won't be to campus until next season, and #AStormisBrewing. If that's what had you predicting six wins, your disappointment is on you.

I really want to see if the team can clean up some of the mistakes, and play well. Really want to see some improvement. Oh, and they always have a shot at winning.

Not that excited after watching the display last Saturday. Hard to get excited when you expect a 35-3 pounding while giving up 8 sacks. I will be pulling for the Clones though, and we have had our fair share of success in the Ferentz era. Hope we win and get to hear again the Hawk talk of Ferentz's ball and chain contract. Though after last year, he has a year of mediocrity allowed.

We're so bad that anything but an easy cover that is never in doubt should be tavernhok meltdown.

Rhoads sucked out any football enthusiasm I had left before he was shown the door. I'm not even planning on watching the game this week, which will be a first for me with the CyHawk game. I just don't have the desire to give up the precious hours of my Saturday to watch what I expect to be terrible football. I'll record the game on my DVR and watch it later if the team does something worth watching.

I like a lot of what I am seeing from Campbell, and I think he can do some nice things in the future. I'm excited to see it. But that future doesn't appear to be this year. I've seen too much bad to invest any more based on hope or hype or whatever. I need to see some signs of life on the field at game time before I get back on board. In the mean time, I'll be off getting drunk on hoops recruiting kool-aid.

I am excited to see if the team can improve. There were a lot of errors last week that the team should be able to correct.

As someone else said, ISU is playing with house money, there is nothing to lose in this game. If ISU gets hammered, well they were supposed to do that. If they play well and loose it will show they are getting better. If they can somehow pull off a win, they will raise a lot of eyebrows and ruin the Hawks dream of a NC game before it can really get rolling.

If any Hawk fan is actually believing we have a shot at the NC, they might just be a bit nuts. Ain't no way.

Maybe it's the smell of Fantasy Football in the air, but I think ISU is gonna shock the world, Baybay!

I'm excited to see if the coaching improves and if the team looks better prepared. That's what the coaches can control at this point. Saturday was disappointing from that standpoint.

As far as looking forward to Saturday, I don't know that I've heard John Walters sound more depressed than he did on the radio today. But he did say something that I have thought....sometimes it is good to be humbled.
Well we have to be the most humble fan base in the history of college football then I guess. So there is always that

Iowa hasn't even played Minnesota and Iowa played all of the top B1G teams thus far and has the most difficult schedule in the conference. they don't get to play all the lowest teams twice.

The bottom of the b12 is atrocious and you get to play every one of them, TWICE. That's 8 games vs bad teams.

Maybe he's an Iowa basketball fan and ISU football fan?

Always excited to watch the Clones. Hopefully we will see improvement and great fight and effort. Changing a culture will take time and patience....lucky Cyclone fans are good at that. One game does not change my opinion of Coach Campbell and his staff....I can't wait to be rewarded with a sound football team. Go State!

One thing I am not excited for is watching the game on the Big Propaganda Network...ugh.
Although, 2 years ago when we curb stomped the Hoks in bball, it was a joy listening to the BTN announcers talk about the "beautiful basketball" ISU plays.

I'm looking forward to the game, but wouldn't call myself excited. I have very little emotional investment in football. Cubs and Cyclone Men's Basketball is where my excitement is going. Cyclone football is an occasionally fun distraction and excuse to tailgate. Actually watching the games feels more like an obligation than anything at this point.

My fall Saturdays revolve around college football. I have no say in the matter. I'll be sitting at the edge of my seat Saturday afternoon, even if the Cyclones are likely to get stomped.
