Anyone using the HTC Incredible on Verizon?

I have an HTC Touch Pro2 on Verizon running Windows Mobile 6.5. I like the device but the software is lacking in many areas. HTC makes really nice devices. I've seen the incredible running Droid and it is sweet phone. I wish I would have waited a bit longer and gotten the Droid OS on the new HTC.

I hear ya. I just missed the date to take my phone in. I love the android system but didn't like that the Eris was a stripped down version and wasn't a fan of the Motorolla phone (just couldn't get used to the feel of it after having it for a week) but loved everything it could do. So i went in and got the Palm Pre because it was on sale and cheap thinking oh well i'll just use this for a year until a different android phone comes out. Then of course a week after my 30 days runs out the Incredible comes out. Wish the guys at the store would have told me just to wait another month for a new phone.

Can't complain to bad, I like the Palm Pre, doesn't do nearly as much as the Droid but it still does everything I need it to do. The WebOS operating system is pretty cool but the APPs are limited and most cost money. One big plus for the Pre is that it has a wi-fi hot spot function built into it for free. Still wish I had the Incredible though, I guess I'll just have to live with phone envy until next March.

Is anyone using the incredible with their Microsoft Outlook? I am for work but I think the only time it syncs up the emails is when I have wifi turned on? Not sure how it is able to sync on the road then, when there is no wifi? Maybe there is something that I am missing.

What email service are you using? Move it to Gmail. Then have the phone sync with Gmail and Outlook sync with Gmail.

With Verizon the only way you can get it to use activesync over service is to have the ent data plan. Do you have that?

You forward everything to Gmail. Then you can set Gmail to use whatever your other email address is as the default sending email address. Now you have a central sync point. You can sync with anything at that point. Outlook, iPhone, Incredible, Gmail on the web, or whatever.

Get a new computer or phone and it's not big deal. Just turn sync on. All your mail is on Gmail already.

Wifi doesn't matter. The Incredible will sync OTA just fine.

No, if your company uses ActiveSync you should be able to setup your phone to sync email. If you don't have ActiveSync (like me) you can get an app called Touchdown. I'm using it and it works great.

If you can avoid moving up your data plan by these other options, do it. Verizon needs to cut the crap with data plans.

JP4CY hasn't said what the backend system is. That's why I asked. If it's Exchange then yeah might as well sync directly; assuming the IT department allows it. I'd assume it's not Exchange since JP4CY would have already heard about co-workers syncing phones with it and likely wouldn't be asking.

You can try it for 30 days to make sure it works with your company. Then you have to pay. I think $20 or $30. But, as someone else said, your company must be using Exchange. Actually, I think there's some other servers it works with too.

For anyone having battery issues: if you leave your phone on and charge until the LED turns green, then turn off your phone and keep charging (it will turn red when you turn it off) until it turns green again, you'll get a full charge and it will last longer. This is a known problem with the DInc.

I'm ready for an upgrade for my personal phone and also have a separate work phone. I want to switch and use my personal phone for my work phone too cause then my work reimburses me which means no more cell phone bill and only one phone, but I want to make sure my new phone can utilize Outlook. My current work phone is a Motorola Q so I could continue to use that but I would rather switch to a new phone if possible.

Exchange has to have ActiveSync enabled. If it is, you can sync your email with your phone.

I didnt really read the thread so if this was mentioned, forgive me. One thing that has really helped my battery life on the Evo has been using Advanced Task Killer everytime before I lock it and put it in my pocket. Thats the best app around if you ask me since it will shut off all those pesky apps that dont seem to turn off or constantly turn themselves back on while your using the phone and kill your battery.

Android phones work with activesync, but they don't support security features like pin lock and remote data wipe (i believe the phones that run htc sense ui are the exception). So if your work enforces these security requirements, be aware that you would have to use a third party app (like touchdown) or hope your IT group can make an exception for you.

It would make sense if I knew if our company had those security features. I guess the real reason I'm concerned is because apparently crackberrys aren't compatable with our servers. That is why everyone has a windows mobile type phone like the Q. On my current phone when I activate active sync, to set it up, I just type in the server and my username and password.
