Because he thinks that Fred would have stayed an extra year and would have further set back the basketball program by not doing the entire job.

Personally, I think that had Fred wanted the Timberwolves job, he could have gotten it 2 years ago. I don't think Flip really wanted to coach, but when they didn't get Fred he took the job.

I'm not sure exactly how you can argue that Fred ever did anything to set us back. If he would have waited we would simply have a longer streak in the top 25...

The poor 76'ers (even tho they've been better lately) are going to take the brunt of the last few days. The Bulls seem to have got it all out now and appear positive. Bet Butler goes for 30 and they stomp tomorrow night. Bulls get into the playoffs anyways cuz Bucks, Hornets, Pistons all keep losing. Fred will be fine cuz he won't be fired getting to the playoffs with this team.

Still don't understand why Fred took this job, and Bull's f'd him over bringing in the ego that is Dwayne Wade.

Its a bad situation, Fred needs to get pissed, and tell these bunch of egotistical ********, to stop thinking of themselves and their pocket books, and play for a team.

What are you talking about? They sucked yesterday. They still seem to be fractured. They'll win tomorrow but I'm not sure why you are so certain they are so good.

Good grief, did you even read my post or are you just wanting to rumble? Where did I say they were good? That's why I said it WAS BECAUSE Hornets, Pistons, & Bucks , Knicks continue to lose alot and they are the teams closest to them. If the Bulls were good, they would be above .500. Just saying they'll probably grow from this adversity and just be 'good enough'. Comprehending????

Fred will get another 2-3 years to prove his worth as a coach in the NBA...just about the same amount of time we'll have a good idea on Steve Prohm's worth...
Fred may have had his flaws in the college game as coach...but he gave us an identity...we have or are close to losing our identity now.

Would you say that if Prohm hasn't proven himself by then that we should try to get Fred back?

Stephen A. Smith was on "Mike and Mike" this morning and said a Bull's player referred to Fred as a "third tier assistant coach" when talking about his NBA knowledge and coaching ability. Smith said that Fred is an outstanding collegiate coach and hinted he was in over his head. He said he'll get a fairly long leash because Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't want to pay him $15 mil to not coach. It felt from the start that the Timberwolves would have been a better fit for Fred.

I think this is accurate. The college game is way simpler.

Ouch... I guess the players are bound to be upset though, as fans were, when the Bulls claimed they were exploring all coaching options and everyone knew that was BS and they were just going to bring in their guy, Fred. I'm sure a lot of the Bulls players honestly think that with a different coach they would be championship contenders, delusional as that may be.

Here nor there
Fred had difference makers in guys like Royce, Kane, and Georges. Imo in the college game you can get by in-game tactics simply by having a clue on how to use those guys, which is what we saw. The supporting and ancillary parts of the game like defense and rebounding, not so much. Fred was great at building a team on the offensive end- like a good GM he put the pieces together to be able to play Hoiball and that fit his laid back approach.

But in Chicago GarPax is doing the strategic level and it's exposing Fred's inexperience in game level tactics.

After Northwestern qualifies and wins a tournament game this year, UNL will be the only power 5 school to have never won an NCAA tournament game. Maybe Fred will be their first coach to change the fact

I leave this gem here.....

I think we all know that Northwestern is going to get a 5 seed and will get upset in the first round by the 12 seed. It's like the lock of the century.
