ESPN’s production has dropped. Do they not mic the students anymore? They need to pipe in more crowd noise into the broadcast.
I thought it was just ESPN+, but ESPN2 wasn’t much better in terms of piping in more crowd volume and less commentator volume.
Funny, I mentioned to my son that the difference in audio was light years better than any ESPN+ game this year.

No I know but the non-con games we played after we beat those teams were against horrid opponents. It’s not a shock we didn’t fill Hilton against Chicago State and Jackson State.
Those are my favorite games to take the family too, low stress and doesn't break the bank.

It was certainly better (ESPN+ has terrible audio mixing), but I just remember there being more crowd noise being piped into the feed a few years ago.

Not exactly sure.
If that is the reasoning, our ISU students have their priorities all messed up. The beginning of dead week is NOT a good reason to go to this game.
This week is dead week. I know my daughter and her BF didn't go because they wanted to watch the wrestling meet.

They gave free shirts to students. If that doesn't bring them in I don't know what will.

I was like many other people and I took one from the empty upper deck student section.

This week (before finals) is now called prep week. Which makes me think of colonoscopy, which makes me shudder to think about a prep week for that.

I thought it looked pretty full, except for the student section. The upper areas of the upper bowl were pretty open on the ends and corners, most are not held by season ticket holders. I thought a pretty good crowd considering wrestling meet was taking place at the same time.

The upper level of the student section was pretty sparse. Mostly people from the upper seats who moved to get a better seat since students were not there. I think it that at least a couple of the upper sections on the end should be moved from student seats to public. Most of the time those seats are half full at best, except for a couple big games.

Finals are somewhat like a colonoscopy prep depending on your caffeine source. Prep is pretty inaccurate though. My four ISU engineers all had lots of projects due the week before finals, not prepping.

Where was everyone yesterday? A sunday afternoon, facing an undefeated team, while we are ranked and the place was maybe 60% full. No students in the upper level and basically zero people followed the striping scheme they emailed out. What the heck is going on?
Somebody axed Hilton magic and it’s still recovering. We will not mention this person because they are a nice guy and didn’t mean to have the worst season record in Cyclone history.

it could work but the boomers on FB being confused about the guide doesn't help. LOOK AT THE GRAPHIC lmao it's not hard
If they are even on social media. I had some older family members that were going to the game ask me the day before about the striping since they never heard anything about it until someone told them. They said their tickets never had anything about what they needed to wear. fortunately, they had gold apparel already.

Our style of play doesn't help either. Next year should alleviate that with the freshman who look like they'll be able to knock down shots on a consistent basis leading to more runs on offense.

I'm not on FB and CF is the only place I saw the striping thing mentioned. Without it being on the ticket there's no way those things will ever work. Unless, of course, they put shirts on the seats.
And I did think attendance would be a little better than it was for that team but it still wasn't that bad.

True, the original was built with an exciting uptempo style of play.

Can’t they just send an email to ticket holders or did they? All social media is pretty toxic

yeah, the shirt idea seems to be the best, and I also think a lot of it comes down to marketing and promotion. It seems like every other school in the nation has it figured out but us. I don't buy the whole, fans don't care excuse. I remember going to gold out games like 10+ years ago and those seem to be successful. Of course, back them you had paper tickets that said "color it gold or color it cardinal"

do schools like Tennessee hand out shirts since they seem to knock it out of the park always.
