Problem is everyone on here is already on board. I hope after reading the Daily this morning more students will be like we should go watch this team. More solid efforts will eventually lead to less empty seats. I'm glad I was there to witness that game last night. I get more and more excited with every game, can't wait for Sunday.

Let's be honest...nobody reads the daily except for the Just Sayin' section.

Why point fingers at only students? When we were selling out, it wasn't just that there were more students.

There were 3 mostly empty rows behind me, and I'm not in the student section.

The thing is, we kind of have to understand that basketball beat people down. It wasn't an exciting style, and losing isn't usually that exciting. Those two together form most people's picture of our basketball program right now.

Since people don't like buying tickets for a loser, they aren't buying as many yet. I think Fred's style of play will win people back, and this problem will solve itself.

I saw the attendance was over 12,000. Is that accurate? If so, Matt P. will be admitting he was wrong today.

Great point. There are what, 1500 or 2000 student tickets sold? Hilton seats just over 14k. Who should be filling those other 12k seats? Hint: it isn't students.

If our team's current pace continues into next year (January), the attendance problem will fix itself. Students and the general public alike.

Oh, but it is the students. I was a student once. I remember having ample time, with nothing like careers, children, and travel to worry about. I expect lower turnouts for mid-week games from the general fanbase, for other LIFE obligations can get in the way. Nobody will convince me that all the missing students were busy with their nose in the books last night. I suffered through a 12-18 season under Floyd, yet the students still showed up in great numbers.

Wake up, kids!!! McDermott is gone. Hilton can be great again, but we need the students! Do it now!!!!!!!!!

Very true. I pick up a daily each morning only for the sake of user-contributed content.

Wait, I only graduated in 2007, are you saying that the crossword and suduku are no longer the only reasons people grab the Daily? I guess nobody had smartphones (or was allowed laptops in class) even just a few years ago, so we had to do something to pass the time.

Can't say I blame anyone of them, after the last four years of crap. It will take a little time to get some of these fans back. In any event, things are looking great.

We need the students, but it ain't just students staying home. I don't see "commanding" students to buy tickets to be a strategy that works with that age group.

What if we made a reality show based on our student fanbase? Think it would help?

I graduated in 2000, and these are the only reasons I ever picked up a copy of the Daily.
