Last week the top of the AP poll matched the CFP poll. If that happens again, and the playoffs started this week:
- Oregon, Texas, Miami, Boise State with byes
-Tennessee at Ohio State
-Ole Miss at Penn State
-Georgia at Indiana
-Alabama at Notre Dame
Big XII gets left out. In fact, the leaders of both the MWC and the AAC are ranked ahead of the top Big XII team, BYU.
(Still lots of football to come, but things are getting weird)
Wait what AAC team is ahead of BYU, or Colorado for that matter?Last week the top of the AP poll matched the CFP poll. If that happens again, and the playoffs started this week:

There should be, you’d think. But if the Big XII champion has two (or, heaven forbid, three) losses, they’re fighting against four to five B1G teams, four to five SEC teams, Notre Dame, Boise State, and SMU to get somewhere in that top 12. There’s already four B1G and five SEC teams in the CFP if it started this week.I think there would still be one Big 12 team if the Big 12 champ isn't in the top 5 of league championships.

Oops. My mistake. They are ACC, not AAC.
SMU is ahead of BYU despite the head to head loss. Do results even matter any more?
No worries, it's an easy mistake to make with the constant state of change lately.Oops. My mistake.
Eye test. Extra data point. Strength of record. Game control. I dunno, something something the committee will pull out of their butts so the CFP becomes the B1G/SEC invitational tournament they want it to be.SMU is ahead of BYU despite the head to head loss. Do results even matter any more?

What’s really nuts is there’s definitely a possibility that Iowa State, BYU, Colorado, and Arizona State could all tie with 7-2 conference records … and Iowa State wouldn’t have played any of the other three.the fact that we're 8-2 and only rated #22 is beyond ridiculous, though (that said, when I look at the ratings and the only 3-loss team ahead of us is South Carolina is also kind of ridiculous - in the superconference era nobody plays anybody anymore).
