I don't need an interview to tell me anything. He is a whiney brat who didn't get his way so he quit. His daddy is the reason he is a whiney brat. This experience was likely the first time the whiney brat didn't get what he wanted.

Oh yeah. No reason to let facts get in the way. :skeptical:

I still haven't heard him whine, now that I think of it.

Just curious, how soon can we put a wooden stake in the heart of this? The team really doesn't need the neverending distractions.

I don't disagree that the topic should die out soon, but I don't think this message board is a big source of distractions to the team. I would think that Bates on/in the news every three days would be a bigger distraction.

Sorry, I didn't mean the message board subject. I meant the media running to Bates every few days, and him still not giving a full explanation. His right, I guess (see Adam Haluska or Shane Power), but I wish it would stop hitting the news.

Has anyone come up with a reasonable explanation why he quit in the middle of the season yet? We can all come up with tons of reasons why he would be better waiting until the end of the season, but there isn't a very strong argument for quitting in the middle. If he gets asked that question, someone please post the answer.

More information will eventually come out regarding PB's departure and how it relates to his visit to the kNebraska sidelines 2 and a half weeks ago.

" know he is young, so I won't say I lost a lot of respect for him but I am severly disappointed in him.... I meant the media running to Bates every few days, and him still not giving a full explanation. His right, I guess (see Adam Haluska or Shane Power)."

Should one be disappointed? Should one really be interested in the truth/real reason he/they left? Don't all individuals and institutions have to protect unpleasant things? Are we really supprised he left/quit or whatever word you want to use?

Is it true or fiction that we now live in a society of me first; no accountability or loyalty to anyone or anything; but yet to those of us affected we all want to "know the scoop, the juice, whether fact or fiction. But do we believe when a person does somehting like this EVERYONE should call him or her out for it?

For most people when it counts, this young man or anyone involved with him has clearly began a pattern that would demonstrate that he can't be counted on, be depended on to be there, give something up, etc.

Is that so wrong in today's society? Can you really fault him for looking out for himself; what he thinks doing is in his best interest?

It may never come out and it there's no reason it should -- it's none of our business. There may be multiple reasons for his leaving and some of them may not have anything to do with football. For all we know he had academic issues or personal (family, girlfriend, etc.) issues that affected this decision.

You're right, it may never come out.

One misstep is hardly a "pattern".

Since you're all over the place on this post, I have to admitthat I'm really not sure what you're saying.

Given the price of a scholarship (whe he has for the remainder of the semester), I think he could be a little more accountable.

If he is doing a Punt, Pass, and Kick competition, no I wouldn't fault him. As a member in a team competition, yes.

FYI, Gene Smith would have never taken a call from a parent that his son was going to quit. He would have directed them to the coach.

I'll agree with that sentiment...JP should have said you haven't quit until you've told Chiz yourself. I ain't your messenger.

"PB....did you ever consider manning up and telling coach how you felt. If you want to be a starting QB and that option wasn't available here why would you expect him to hold it against you to transfer at the end of the season?"

LOL at that interview...so awkward! Phil just looked real happy up there. Was that set from 1960? ABC5 and everyone else just needs to move on. And I can't believe the fact that Chizik and Bates still haven't talked yet, and probably won't.
