Honestly with this team I really don't think the seed matters that much. They're either going to put it together for the tourney or they won't.
What does that team look like exactly?
Depends on the definition of a run. A Sweet 16/Elite 8 team usually has some sort of production from the bench, plays at least decent defense, mentally strong, and can hold onto a double digit lead. I really can't describe this team as any of those things other than playing decent defense from time to time. There are other factors that can lead to deep runs like getting good match ups or upsets taking out better teams but banking on that isn't the best plan either.
Pretty much exactly opposite of our last team that made the sweet 16
Mentally strong??
That team may have been similar during the season, but there's no doubt they turned it up a notch in that postseason.
Having said that, I also believe there's a chance this team could do the same thing.

Does a mentally strong team get blown out a bad WVU team in February? Is this team mentally strong last night if Monte makes that shot and we get a win on the road vs a top 25 team?
That team played good at the end of the season but that team wasn't deep at all (really only playing 6 guys down the stretch) and was not a good defensive team
They also ****** away a late lead at KSU and were run out of the gym in Waco the last week of the season. If Naz doesn't hit the 3 vs OSU that team rides a 3 game losing streak into the Big XII's.
But Naz hit the shot, that team found its mojo vs K State in the Big XII tournament and went to the Sweet 16.
At some point this team needs to find its mojo but last night's result hardly is a predictor of what might happen in March. See last year for further proof...
As usual, just pretending like there isn't another team out there that doesn't want us to get in to that high percentage situation.
Mental strengff!!!! DRINK. What does mentally strong look like to you?
Has nothing to do with expectations, watching this team is frustrating, not fun. It's like every game is filled with tension. I'd actually say my expectations are pretty low at this point, because no matter what kind of lead ISU builds, I'm usually on pins and needles just waiting for it to dwindle away in a few possessions.
Also, I'm not trying to pin this on the players. I'm not like some on here who want to bash this guy or that guy. I'm just stating how I feel. This year, it's becoming a chore to watch games. I feel terrible for the seniors on this team, they are the ones who really suffer the most.
We made zero passes and didn't even bring the ball past the 3 pt line before shooting a contested, low % shot. If Baylor had made a play I'd give it to you.
If you're Baylor you can't be upset with your last shot. They got the ball inside and got a good shot that had been working all game, it just got blocked. You know, they ran their offense.
I posted this before the Baylor game in another thread:
Saw this from Seth Davis:
"Why don't teams run any offense on game-deciding final possessions? They practice and play a certain way 99% of the time, but when they really need a bucket to win a game it's pound pound pound pound pound ... and chuck up a bad shot. I don't get it."
What does Seth Davis's coaching resume look like?

Don't know, don't care. But you're right. That was such a good shot we should probably just do that every time down the floor. You know, cause of defense.
