First off, huge win @WVU, like CW said, I think that was a statement game. Now it's on to Baylor.

I watched a lot of the their game @TCU (please kill me) and some of the Kansas game. Definitely have a good zone again and have length and size with Gathers, Prince, and Motley. To me the key to the zone will be getting Georges in the short corner and middle of the zone to distribute and get shots.

As for Baylor offensively, IMO it comes down to limiting Cherry driving into the lane (Morris should be used to this after guarding Staten), playing good D on Prince (I'd imagine Hogue would draw this assignment?) and limiting Gather's offensive rebounds (he had around 10 against TCU).

I like the clones by 6, but any Big 12 road game is gonna be tough.

I say we come back to Ames and Game Day next Sat. 3-0 in conference play.
ISU has won in Waco recently and I think this team knows how to win in many different ways. CFH knows how to beat the Baylor Zone.

ISU 67-61. Baylor plays hard and has a lot of athletes, but they seem to lack precision, and seem to rely on individual moves to score. Their zone is what gives them a chance, but we have quite a few players who have seen it a few times, and they lack the size that they've had in the past on the inside.

I'm taking Baylor in this one. I think they'll be hopped up especially after the Big 12 tournament championship game. It's too hard to win on the road for me to expect a win over a good team like Baylor. (Disclaimer: That's why I picked West Virginia over ISU as well, so hopefully I am wrong twice.)

Dealing with the zone will be interesting. This isn't really vintage Hoiball. I believe Fred will have a great gameplan still but it will be something to keep an eye on.

Naz has to break out of his slump. We need to hit some threes to open up the middle.

Naz is 2-15 (13%) from three over the last 3 games against South Carolina, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia. He missed some very open looks so I hope Fred can help him clear that mental block. I think if he makes his first shot of a game, he will have confidence and shoot well for that game.

ISU wins 78-69.
Scott Drew burns through 3 timeouts in the first half.
One of those timeouts will be called immediately after a media timeout.
And he will call a timeout when Baylor is on a 8-0 run to help stop his own teams momentum. Fred looks down the sideline and says thanks.

Going to be another close game. The good thing about baylor in close games is they choke.

We really struggled down there last year. Expecting the same. Will be a frustrating game. Hoping we have the gumption to pull it out. Expecting a line of Baylor -2.

BU has already lost 2 conference games - OU and KU. The only other L they have is Ill (not a terrible team).
It took them on OT to put away TCU.
They took care of South Carolina, who we all know is one of our losses.

I'm having hard time calling this one. BU is not going to want to have 3 conference losses this early in the year. It's at their court. We are in for a battle I think.
But if we get even a few moment to run-and-gun, we can take them.

Baylor has played 3 top 50 RPI teams, and has lost all three games. They have beaten 3 top 100 RPI teams (one of them South Carolina, but that was a November South Carolina that also lost to Akron). This will be another close game, but it is starting to look like ISU knows how to play defense boys and that should worry a lot of BIG12 team IMO.

IMO BDJ will have a very good game. He doesn't seem to thrive in the physical type of play we have seen the last few game. And Baylor is never physical. So I think we can take this. Don't ever want to look ahead.......but they pull this out there is a better than even chance of starting the conference season 8-0 with the next four of five at Hilton and the road game in Lubbock. Would be nice.

2 things you dont do against a Fred Hoiberg coached team, press and play a zone.

We win, but not by too much. Maybe 5 or 6 points.

Really like Chery, Motley, Prince, and Gathers. I think we're starting to figure it out, and pull away in the last 5 minutes. Baylor is good, but unless Chery has a hero game, I think we take this one.

I think Gathers is going to be frustrated all night. He may bulldoze his way to the basket a couple times early, but he isn't capable of guarding any of our players. Niag would be torture for him and he would be winded after a couple minutes running after McKay. Wouldn't be shocked if Drew was forced to sit him a little more than usually because of matchups.
