No doubt Iowa fans' fascination with Beathard was partially due to the "backup syndrome." I think you ISU fans are familiar with that with the QB carousel prior to Richardson taking hold of the job.

I disagree. I think our Tiller is the best QB we have and I'm glad he is getting the start.

Small sample size, and CJ didn't have the practice reps. Look at game 1 for the season this year. Rudock is the same player. An awful one.

I see Iowa played an FCS team in week 1 and Rudock played against a Top 25 Power 5 team. Pretty much sums up everything about the hoks. How bad is it going to be when the schedule turns and Michigan, MSU, and OSU start showing up again. Iowa lost 51-14 to MINNNESOTA last year. That could have easily been 81-0 vs. OSU.

Beathard's popularity is all all relative to Rudocks inability to move the ball and the fact that KF refused to play CJB last year despite the fans and poor performance from Rudock. It's not like Iowa fans think CJ is an All American, we're just rejoicing because we finally got our wish are sure to see less 3 and outs and more big plays.

Really, despite the fans.
Good one.

This is my wish... if granted only one wish... I would wish that all you guys would just put dan on ignore or don't respond to his deranged posts. It flat out ruins every thread he and Twins are involved in.

There are actually reasonable Hawks on this board (believe it or not) that probably have decent takes on things I'd like to hear their perspective on, but Twins and dan ruin it.

Not. They may trick you in to thinking that but it's all a ruse.

It's not like we haven't seen Rudock play against poor teams and look the exact same...

ISU lost by an average of 30+ pts. last season ... That's including TCU kneeling the ball with 5 minutes left inside the 10 yd. line because they felt bad.

Rudock statistically was not bad last year. His physical limitations and dismal way he performed at the end (Nebraska and Tennessee) had the fan base ready to make the change.

Iowa fans' expectations are likely too high for Beathard. I hope I'm wrong.

That's why as a kid I wanted Mike Cilek starting at QB but they kept playing Larry Lawrence.

I don't get it. He had 3 touchdowns, and didn't make any mistakes. We already know he can throw the deep ball, he didn't need to show it in that game.

CJ's day in a nutshell...

15-24 for 211 yards and 1 TD

Of his 24 pass attempts 8 of them were dump offs to his RB Canzeri (only completed 50%) and those 4 completions accounted for 43% of his total passing yards against Illinois State (90 of 211).

So for an entire game he went 11-16 for 121 yards throwing the ball down the field.

This kid might be more of a game manager at QB than Rudock was.

Yes... all of that... and they still beat Iowa in their house. Chew on that for a second smart guy. Iowa couldn't manage to beat a Big XII team that went winless in the Big XII on their home turf. Well... that is Iowa Football for you.

I thought our fan base had some real idiots, but they are obviously smarter than Hawkeye fans still.

There's so much stupid in this thread.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned how the only reason Beathard is where he is with Iowa is because he and his dad literally threw a tantrum to the media saying if he doesn't start he's taking his ball and going home.

Seeing some chatter on Hawkeye Lounge and I thought this would be a good discussion from both sides. Who would you rather have: Beathard or Richardson?

Iowa fans are super confident in Beathard despite him throwing more than 10 passes in a game three times.

17/37 245 1 TD 1 INT @ Purdue W 24-10
13/23 145 2 TD 1 INT vs. TENN L 45-28
15/24 211 1 TD 0 INT vs. Ill St. W 31-14

He has a big arm, but he has looked erratic at times. Why are Iowa fans so confident he's better than Richardson? Kinda bizarre.

If this is still a valid question, CJ all day every day.
