1. Clark
2. Grayer

You guys are all too young. Clark was the best all-around dunker, but I still think Jeff Grayer had the BEST dunk I've ever seen from a Cyclone. I can't find any video of it anywhere though? It was on the road against Michigan State. Grayer had one of his 40+ pt games and we beat them. He took off just past the FT line and jammed it over about 2 MSU players. I couldn't believe on the replay how high he was. It was unreal.

I'm not impressed by guys over 6'9" dunking the ball. I could make some really sweet dunks if I was 6'10"!

Grayer is also probably the best basketball player to ever put on an ISU jersey too. I'm so glad he's back. And I don't think Hoiberg would argue this point either.

Clark was the best. He was not the best offensive player, but he was top notch when it came to dunks. The guy was an athletic freak.

Grayer was the best player to put on a cyclone uniform. Had it not been for injuries, he would have been an all - star NBA player.

As the OP requested... The best dunker was probably Rashon Clark, just because he put on a show everytime he had a clear dunk or put-back.

Fizers dunk over Mihm (in my opinion) was the best ISU dunk ever!

as a side note, I think it's important that we pay homage to one person that perfected a post move that doesn't get as much love as the dunk.

Klay Edwards, thank you for years of the most beautiful baby hook shoot I've ever seen.

Don't know if this has been posted before:

Which Cyclone got you the most excited for a dunk?

Tops in my book would be:

1. Fizer (The Mihm Facial)
2. Cato (Countless Ally-oop grunts with a rim rattler.)
3. Rashon Clark (Uh, "The Virginia Game" on Big Monday.)

Explain:

Why was he the best? Most frequent dunker? Style-emotion? You just really hated Chris Mihm? Game changer? Not a big dunker...but when he did the crowd took notice?

My favorite of all time was Grayer over Kellogg. I think it was better than Fizer's. He GOT UP!!

I know those were NBA dunks... but for being as tiny as he was.... Easily no contest the best dunker to go through ISU.

The lack of Craig Brackins in this discussion is sickening. Much like the Gilstrap dunks, Craig's were also overshadowed by losing. The sheer frequency of his dunks was impressive. Alley-oops, fast breaks, spin-move from the block, tip-slams, he did it all.

For me, the dunk Fizer had over Mihm was awesome especially because of the importance of the game. Also, the dunk Rahshon Clark had in the Virgina game when Stinson started the break and got it to Blalock to set up the crowd pleaser. One dunk that wasn't mentioned was when Blalock threw a bounce pass through traffic to Clark for a one-handed dunk on some clown from Oklahoma that turned into a 3-point play. Rahshon dunked it and posed for the camera and Stinson shoved the ball at him in celebration. Those are my favorite dunks!

Not a problem with any of those, but you can't leave Jeff Grayer off the list. Probably had the best Clone dunk of all time........

I agree that the Fizer dunk on Mihm was awsome, and maybe the most important dunk in ISU history. But the Grayer behind the head dunk while his knee was still wrapped from his injury is the best.

Gilstrap dunked not once but twice directly in the grill of one of the best big men in the league who fruitless effort to block him was pathetic. It's just sad that losing the game and having a cruddy season completely knocks those dunks way down the ranking.

When you're down 20, the dunkflex loses some luster.

The most impressive part of that dunk was that it ended up being a reverse because of the defender.

Grayer was a tremendous college BB player...absolutely tremendous. Many also forget he was on the last amateur Olympic team in 1988. Have we had any other BB player ever make the Olympic team?

I'm sorry, but I have to say that anyone who picked someone other than Rashon Clark is simply wrong.

No human being to strap on the cardinal and gold has ever been a more prolific, energetic, or straight up exciting dunk machine than Rashon Clark.

Coming in a very distant second is Cato, but that's mostly because the man dunked a basketball the way Lou Ferigno burst through styrofoam walls.

I too loved Clark's athleticism on dunks, but I take it by your comments that you must have been too young to see Grayer play much. I don't have their respective verticle leap stats, but in my years of watching ISU ball, Grayer's verticle on dunks was unmatched.

Favorite all-time dunker.... Rashon Clark

Favorite all time dunk... Ronnie Virgil's backdoor alley oop over Iowa's twin towers in overtime.

You can't discount a guy like Cato just because he was tall, that's ridiculous. It's not that Cato was flashy or had tons of acrobatic dunks, it was the way he attacked the rim with such reckless abandon and complete disregard for human life. If he got the ball within 3 feet of the hoop, you just knew what was coming, and that it was going to be nasty. And God help any poor sap who dared get a hand between the rim and the force of nature known as the Cato 2-hand tomahawk.

Anyone that sayd Grayer, Clark, Cato, or Fizer has a legitimate stance. all were great dunkers for differnt reasons.
