Better than not getting $3 million. The name of the conference means nothing and brings nothing. Do you really think anyone who ACTUALLY is a donor cares what the conference name is. They care about their school. It could be the Piggly Wiggly 16 and the donors at “insert school name here” are still going to donate.
Considering that I'm not the only one upset about this, yeah, I do. And obviously it means something considering that the Big 12 (like the Big 10) keeps calling itself that when it no longer has 12 members.

DO NOT SELL OWNERSHIP STAKE!

In 3-5 years the SEC will eat itself and conferences and $ will all reshuffle. After the top 3-4 performing teams in the SEC, the next 3-4 teams in the SEC will be going crazy looking to "create an easier path to success".

are you ACTUALLY contributing any meaningful $$ to the athletic department? I’m not talking about season tickets. You’re still going to go to the games. Also, will you stop contributing and going to games if the conference name changes but ISU is still in a power conference? I doubt it.

I don't contribute to Iowa State because I didn't go there and live in Wisconsin. I have never hidden that. I said that other people were upset because I recognize that I don't donate to Iowa State.

I have season tickets to Wisconsin. I used to donate more than was required because I want to support my school and get into the habit of donating. As I grew in my career, I would donate more. I have stopped that due to the actions of the Big 10 and because no amount that I can donate is going to be "meaningful." I am a season ticket holder, but who knows how long that's going to last? And if teams are ever spun off from their schools, I am done completely, but I could very easily be done before that. If the Big 10 changed it's name would I cancel my tickets? No, I think it would be a ******* stupid idea and it would get me closer to canceling my tickets.

Is there anyway to make this website reliable on mobile? I want that company to sponsor the Big 12! I joke, but I am also tired of random page refreshing and post deletions. I don’t even remember what I was just typing and I don’t want to take the effort to reproduce the message that disappeared.

I detest the idea of the conference being named for a company or business. But when I think of one that would be less bad, I’ll note it here.

Sell the naming rights to Amazon. Put as many games on prime as possible. Amazon uses targeted ads based on user’s purchase and search history.

That will never ever ever ever happen.
If message boards existed, I am sure people would have said the Big 8 will never change too.

Think about how fast change has happened in the last 10 years. You think it will be set in stone for the next 20-30 years?

Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M. Then Tennesee, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss. You think 5, or more, of these schools are going to be ok being a regular punching bag just because the money is good?

Eventually the beaten spouse gets the courage to move on. And with as quick as things have moved recently, I think it will be even quicker than we can imagine.

Hell, you think the top 8 of those schools are going to love to share with their punching bags forever?

In the US, ~70 women are killed by their partner every month. Statistically, at least some of those programs are going to (figuratively) die instead of leave.

Sad and informative.

Can wait for the day that Ole Miss has to use all their budget just to bribe players to come play for them. Hey, well only win 2 games, but you get money.

Teams are either moving conferences for more money or because that conference doesn’t exist anymore. No one will ever voluntarily leave their conference for LESS money.

Now if you want make the argument the top teams will eventually move on from Vandy and Miss St then yeah maybe but I’m not sure how likely that is.

If the numbers work, schools will be happy indefinitely as schedule fillers. It might be possible the Big Boys could seek to thin the herd to fatten their piece of the pie.

Teams leaving/Conferences getting redrawn doesn't have to mean less money. The right groups of schools and the right competitive mix, well that may be just what the viewers (read money provider) want.

And yeah, you might leave for less money if the current rat race is so toxic its not worth it anymore. It happens. Tough to do, but it happens And the toxicity getting brewed in this current landscape will reach a tipping point.

And people used to laugh at NASCAR.

Do you think those schools and players have egos? The reason we are here is in large part due to ego and you think that will stop because there is more money? Ego will win and plenty of people have made decisions based on ego that was counter to their wallet.

I suppose the record books should start including AD revenues so those schools that get embarrased on the field will be able to point to their revenue.

People won't leave because of losing or "toxic atmosphere", but they might leave if they can no longer afford the ante to stay at the table.

Now I get what you’re saying. Like for example, if the right mix of teams that say are culturally similar, have longstanding shared rivals, and are geographically near each other? That would be an amazing. I wonder if TV networks would pay for that?
