Isn't the women's championship on Sunday? I thought they moved that when the selection show moved to Monday.
The women's championship is now on the previous Monday.
WBB will run Fri-Mon in Dallas; off-day Tuesday; MBB runs Wed-Sat in KC.
That is just completely made up. That has nothing to do with why or why not BYU didn't join the Big 12. Also, one bad coaching hire by Boise St if Petersen leaves and Boise St becomes dead weight in the conference, the conference would be better off with San Jose St at that point.
I'm not saying the conference should expand but rumors on the new television contract have indicated that the contract is automatically reopened if expansion occurs. The conference won't expand if per team payment is not the same or better.
There is also the Champions Bowl to think about.
Which is a problem. The problem isn't that we have 10 teams. The problem is that while almost everyone else is playing 8 conference games, we're wasting a game beating each other up, guaranteeing an additional loss for 5\10 teams, while given our nonconference record we could be netting an additional 3-5 wins for conference teams by gaining nonconference opponents.
The only reason going back to 12 would make it much better would be if the additional inventory from 12 allowed us to go back to 8. Otherwise its not really giving us a ton unless its a big brand add.
The question is is the additional game revenue from having a few more conference games worth the losses from additional wins and potential losses in bowl eligibility? Any time a team ends up at 5 wins on the current 9 game schedule, given noncon performance by the conference the odds are that wouldve been a bowl team.
It will cost them each a $50 million buyout to leave the ACC.... They are not going to do that unless the B12 picks up the tab. If the B12 pays $100 million for two new teams then were is the increase in revenue?
if you can't win 3 or 4 of 9 conference games to get to the magical six wins, a team doesn't deserve to go to a bowl anyway.
It isn't the 9 conference game schedule that hurts. Its the fact that on any given night, 8/9 of the teams could win any game, where other conferences have plenty of bottom dwellers to beat up on. Only one off night for Big 12 Teams - KU - and that won't be an Off night for us.

I like the way it is, yes its tough as hell, but then you know what you got dont got as a football team and what to work on. Just find what works do that well and move on like Kstate you dont have to run the same offensive schemes as other teams do what works for your team.
I actually don't know why we have to have a 9 game conference schedule now. The Big 10 (when they actually had 10) used to play an 8 game schedule for years. There's the rare chance the top two teams might not play each other but it wouldn't happen very often.
I agree the wildecats are doing fine so fine in fact they are gonna run the table and not lose even one stinking game.
So much for a tough league.
OSU seemed to be doing fine in the current schedule last year as well. Remind me how that turned out?

Perhaps. But the media was dying for that all-SEC BCS championship. They'd have it again this year, even though it was a ratings disaster last year. Just like they'd have a Yankees-Red Sox World Series every single year (although, as it stands at the moment, that's impossible) or a Lakers-Celtics NBA Finals or a Patriots-Giants Super Bowl.
Exactly. BSU provides NOTHING to the Big 12. It is a good football school, however will it still be good in the Big 12? If so, does it have the fans and media footprint to bring in money? I doubt it. It's in a small population area, has a smaller stadium, and doesn't have a huge following. It was #70 in the Director's Cup last year, so not that impressive or that dominant in other sports. Its academics is questionable. Finally, it's a long way from the other schools. BSU should NEVER be an option.
