I haven't researched this subject very much, outside of what i read here, so could you explain to me why the ACC is so much easier to poach teams from than the Big 12? Why are is the Big 12 on such solid footing to poach from another P5 conference when all the talk on the street is how the Big 12 is the conference that isn't surviving?

They have a GOR just like us, right?
I haven't looked it up but I've heard their GOR is tied to having a conference network. If they don't get a conference network the GOR disappears for them. I think that's why the ACC keeps delaying it, because if they announce they can't get one. Proof goes the GOR.

A good reason why we should wait a bit before hastily adding UCONN from butt ****ing Egypt.

CSU is low level D1 school so why do people want them to join the big 12? They wouldn't be competitive in football or basketball

Careful- you're going to hurt Eustachy's feelings.

Sonny Lubick had their football program rolling for a while. The Rams have also invested in a brand new stadium. While not the sexiest option, they are a program that could really blossom with Big 12 money. Plus it'd be awesome if they did flourish while the Buffaloes languish in the Pac 12.

Memphis has more potential. Bigger football stadium. Good basketball program. Bigger population. Over 1,000,000 when you include Memphis and adjacent areas.

Great..............soon we will be playing FB games at 8 AM on Saturday and BB games at 7 PM on Sunday in order to try to get everyone game on the same network. I hate this model, nothing in common with other fan bases, increases travel expense for fans, oh yea.... now we get East Coast arrogant ****** to go along with our Texas arrogant ******. Just peachy.

Holy hyperole! I can only assume that you live in Hawaii, since nobody in any conference (with or without a network) plays at 8AM in any of the four primary American time zones.

No disagreement here. I'd gladly take Memphis over UCONN.

If we were to go the fourteen team league route:

Baylor
BYU
Colorado State
OU
TCU
Texa$
Tech

Cincy
ISU
KU
KSU
Memphis
Oklahoma State
WVU

With Bedlam a protected rivalry game of course.

Any idea what the fans are saying in Waco, Stillwater and Fort Worth? I think they have a lot to lose if Divisions were brought back in the mix. Best case scenario they have a year like Michigan State, but the reality is their margin for error is going to be like Georgia where 1 loss means they are out of contention until the next year.

On the flip-side, the potential divisional layout could could maybe land an invite to a program from a P5 conference. I think the Big 12 could approach an ACC program and say "look at what Iowa was able to accomplish. We're going to give your program the opportunity to be paired with Iowa State, two schools from Kansas and West Virginia - beat those teams and your program not only plays for the Big 12 championship, but they will be in the national conversation when discussing college football playoff contenders." That kind of PR is not only great for athletics, but will go a long way with future enrollment.

Only reason I want CSU because Colorado is a great state and I would love to go back to having a Big 12 team there.

Expanding outwards worries you? Add UConn, Cinci, CSU and BYU. Divide division up east and west. Split some of the teams in the center to either division.

WTF is this ****? Let's just get the schools that would create the most travel distance possible! **** women's basketball, tennis, softball, soccer, et al. They can walk cross country to their games!

We've already expanded east with WVU. If we're going to expand more, limiting travel and time zone changes are a big deal. Not for football or MBB, obviously, but for non-revenue sports. Football drives the changes, but we can't just kill all of the other sports.

Screw BYU. No way. Too many scheduling problems. There are more sports than just football.

It's more likely that OU and Texas would get split up than, OU and OSU.

So don't schedule anything but football with them.

And when it comes to conference realignment- no; there aren't any sports besides football.

Big 12 does NOT need BYU. Leave them where they are. On the Independent Island that they moved to.

Iowa State hasn't been particularly competitive in either sport over the history of both programs, a handful of recent bowl games and Fred's arrival aside. They're willing to invest in their own future and will improve with Big 12 money. You think TCU was some sort of power before they invested in THEIR facilities and programs? No, they built themselves up so they COULD compete in a P5 league.

You must really hate Mormons. Have you tried pretending you're not home when they ring the door bell?

No. I don't hate Mormons. But the Big 12 does NOT need BYU. And if BYU wants to join the Big 12 then they have to agree to play on Sundays just like our other religious private schools in the Big 12, like Baylor and TCU.

Explain to me WHY BYU should get special treatment. We can survive without them. And they are not the great big superpower program that you make them out to be. If they were, the Pac 12 would have scooped them up instead of taking Utah.

Trying to understand your obsession about wanting BYU. It isn't like they are in close proximity.
