Here nor there
I am a solid supporter of Coach Hoiberg and expect him to succeed in rebuilding Cyclone basketball. But, could you imagine this past season if we had played BB in the Big East. (laughingstock would be spelled in capitol letters.)

No different than playing in the Big 12.

Now that Boise State is officially in the MWC (according to ESPN) does that change anyones opinion?

I think I still vote Big East, but it makes the MWC option better.
MWC now sits at 10 teams. That would open the scenario to add the BIG 4 and one other school, maybe Fresno State (since the WAC is not doign well now either).

This makes the MWC a 16 team superconference with some real football schools and some good basketball schools too.

It would lower the MWC average campus elevation. Currently they are at 4,060 ft. (without BSU)

Mountain West is only ten teams with the addition of Boise State.

And I can understand WHY there's a debate between the Mtn West & Big East conferences, but it's pretty clear which way the forgotten four need to go. Big East offers instant BCS AQ status, MUCH more money than the Mtn West, and an academic reputation & research that far surpass anything the MWC could offer. Go Big East!

I can't see anyone favoring the Big East unless they are only looking at this from a basketball perspective.

If it wasn't for Big 12 teams seeking a home, I would expect the Big East would be crumbling and maybe going away all together. The Big East would be a temporary solution at best to ISU's situation, as I don't see that it has a viable long term future.

I think Big East is still EASILY the decision. Even with the addition of Boise St and potentially ISU, KSU, KU, and MU, there's no guarantee MWC ever gets a BCS auto bid, even if they deserve one. The Big East already has the auto bid, and adding the Big 12 4 would solidify the Big East's bid. I think it's a hell of a lot harder to justify stripping a BCS bid than justify not granting one. Plus the basketball in the Big East blows away the MWC.

Agreed. The only doubt in my mind is the fact that the Big East would still be in a precarious place, geographically squeezed between the Big Ten, ACC & SEC. I like the idea, but it makes me nervous that this would be a temporary solution for the Big XII North schools if the other conferences decide to expand again.

Big East, even though joining the MWC would give me more opportunities to see the Cyclones play, the Big East is much better for ISU. I think the BigEast could be a better fit for ISU than the Big 12. It sounds like a Big East network could make as much or possibly more than the Big 10 and ISU could have some real success in football against the Big East. Basketball will be a tough road though.

I know nothing of wrestling, how does the Big East look with that?

This whole thing is about population and TV sets for conferences to set up their own network, at least that is what we are being told. If that is the case, can you really compare the Big East with the Northeast and Ohio Valley to the Mountain West conference that has what, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico? Follow the population.

That, and the Big East is already a BCS conference. I think the teams there have a lot more history and national exposure than the MWC.

The only Big East school that make sense for the SEC is South Florida. With everything that has been talked about I wonder what the odds are that KU,KSU, MU and ISU stay together We should have a cy bookie on what conference ISU ends up in

I hope you are wrong about KU, KSU, and MU. It doesn't bother me to no longer play CU. I would miss KU in BB and all of these teams in FB. Not to mention that without them, ISU will be completely isolated regardless of where it ends up.

D-mn you, Jim Delaney. D-mn you, Deloss Dodds. D-mn you, Dan Beebe.

...I wonder what the odds are that KU,KSU, MU and ISU stay together ...

I would guess 30% and that's just a guess. I have to believe that every school has to think of where they want to be in their next 100 years = who the heck knows where they'll end up.

I think ISU fans like to think of us as a block since we're all being bent over simultaneously and it gives us bargaining power, but KU will probably have a nicer offer from the Pac10, Mizzou could head out west or who knows, get an invite to the Big10 or SEC. KState may be in the same boat as us with Baylor still wandering in the desert.

I just don't know anymore.
